I feel like a traitor but this has been brewing inside for some time now and since football season's around the corner, this is the best time to address my little rant on the football team I grew up loving.
I was a die-hard Raider fanatic as a kid on the east coast idolizing the Silver & Black. When I got my orders to report to some obscure base outside San Francisco, I knew there was a god. I was at home with my Raiders. I use to have dreams of one day owning the Raiders and bringing them back to Oakland.
But after a period of several years of attending Raider games here and there, and witnessing the juvenile actions and rude behaviour of their fans, I became disenchanted with the whole neanderthal environment and eventually stopped going to the games. I was back to just watching them on TV. Slowly but surely, I wasn't paying much attention to them at all. Now this is coming from someone who use to have his friends record the game and mail it to him across the country to watch during the week.
But I could no longer put up with or be surrounded by a stadium full of morons any longer. The thugs, pushers, pimps, fellons, were all over the damn place. I had to draw the line. I no longer wanted to see pregnat women get smoke blown in their faces after their husbands asked politely for them to put out their cigarette, nor did I care to see gang fights in the stands, parking lots, and bathrooms while I was trying to enjoy the game. Those of you who have had the unfortunate experience of attending a Raider game know what I am talking about.
So there, finally got it off my chest. I don't consider myself a Raider fan anymore, but I'll still tune in from time to time. That was my Raider rant.
I'm curious to hear your comments Raider faithful and from others with similar experiences.
