I am coming to Denver next week and was taking a look at the weather. It seems really bad all the time, is that true? I am going to stay in Colorado Springs, anything i should know?

If you're coming to Denver don't fret about the weather. We have hot summer days and evening thunderstorms that cool things off, they are sometimes severe but only last for an hour or less mostly. If you are going to the Springs try and see the Garden of the Gods a beautiful park with huge natural red stone monoliths. Also, if you like to gamble, Cripple Creek is a great 30-40 min mountain drive away, and the veiws are amazing! And who could forget Pikes Peak, you can go to the top by railway, and see first hand the views that inspired the author of "America the Beautiful"

I didn't get if you were staying in Denver much, but I can give you some locations on bars and other stuff to do here too. Let me know.

Or you could always stop by and visit James Dobson at his "Focus on the Family" headquarters in Colo Springs... wink

I've been to Denver. I haven't been to Colorado Springs. If I were to go to Colorado Springs, I'd try to see the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

I went to high school in a Denver suburb called Aurora. School was Gateway. Class of '81. And Colorado State University. Colorado's great. So's the weather.

I lived in Denver many years ago and went back every year to visit for quite a few years. At that time the weather was well-nigh perfect, even in the winter. The Chinook wind quickly blew any snow away. Summer storms were ordinary but cooling. I understand it isn't quite like that since Denver has grown so much, but maybe memory has idealized it for me anyway. Enjoy your stay.
Red Rocks is really in Manitou Springs, as I recall, but that's adjacent to Colorado Springs. They used to have great concerts there, maybe they still do. The acoustics are awesome.

I went to a 3-day Orvis fly-fishing school in Evergreen, which is just a short drive out of Denver. Great experience and the forests and rivers are absolutely beautiful!

Red Rocks Ampitheatre is a few miles outside Denver. It really is a spectacular setting. That smudge on the the horizon that you can see from Red Rocks? That's the Denver skyline.

I never saw a show there, but I have paid it a visit.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters are playing there tonight. They seem to spend a lot of time around Boulder.

I'm sure the various Grateful Dead websites could tell you every time the Dead played Red Rocks, the playlist of every show, the number of Volkswagen buses in the parking lot at every show, and so forth.
