I have a friend who has a new postal carrier. Her previous carrier of five years left the usps and became a school teacher. She was in her early fourties and my friend really liked her service. She now has a guy in his mid thirties and her postal service is now a disaster. He even misdelivers utility bills. My friend ordered the Harry Potter latest book and this guy never delivered it. She complained to the post office and some superviser was really nasty to her. Now her service is worse than ever and this guy has been abusing her . The carrier confronted her and demanded to know why she would complain about him. A few days ago he actually flipped her off. I told her to call the postal inspectors. What do you guys and gals think about this situation? Flipped off by a mailman! OY VEY!

Unfortunately, there are some people like this in all walks of life. I would suggest:
1. document all the incidents, dates, times and what happened.
2. If he makes direct contact with her again, maybe she can capture it on video, even with a nanny cam.
3. continue to report it to the USPS. if she does not get resolution, request escalation to a higher supervisor. if that is denied, she may need to file a police report. just because he is a postal employee, doesn't mean that his behavior may not be criminal in nature.
Just my thoughts.

Our mail usually doesn't get delivered until after 5:00 p.m. While I find this totally unacceptable, I am afraid to complain b/c I know I will end up in this situation. The carriers hold all the cards (literally and figuratively).

Of course there are great carriers, but there are alot of bad apples too. How these people get hired escapes me. They take a memorization test and supposedly have a background check. I can't believe that a guy that old with that attitude hasn't gotten in trouble with the law before. Some of these usps people think they are some kind of elites of society or something. This guy has rotten teeth and may be bitter because he is in his thirties and never accomplished anything to be proud of in his life. These usps act like they are elites like doctors or lawyers.

the usps has an inspections division, which is quasi-law enforcement. my dad was an inspector, and I have sobering childhood memories of him packing heat when he went to work.
if the local postmaster is not responsive to your friend's troubles, the inspectors would be.

go to the inspectors! I had mail stolen last month. I called the local police, and was advised to report it to the local postmaster. because we retrieved the mail from the trash (where the thiefs tossed it) we didn't feel we had been harmed in any way. if the postmaster had decided we fill out a formal complaint, we would not have had any choice in pressing charges. the Inspectors don't mess around! and if this guy has flipped you off already, I'd say he needs to be reported and investigated.
