Full Version: Jets-Steelers get together NYC this Saturday?

Any one in NYC interested in getting together to watch the game on Saturday? I propose my apt as a viewing place although I do not have Cyd's very advance viewing selections--just a big ole regular television which plays too dominant a role in my design scheme. Or, we could meet somewhere else. It's supposed to be a great cold weather, football playing day.

Shore, I wish I could make a Saturday event, but I'm going to be in Albany for my nephew's 1st birthday. I know Cyd had a thread about getting together to watch the Sunday games at Barrow Street Ale House. Munson Man and I (maybe others) were planning on meeting him there. I need to give that thread another bump. Perhaps you could make it there and bring along some of the other crazy tennis lovin NYC Outsports gang too. biggrin.gif

Hi Shore. As I mentioned in the other thread, I'll be away and won't be able to make it. I'm especially interested in this game. I hope you'll be rooting for the Jets. smile.gif

Gotta hand it to both these teams - flea-flickers, risky shovel passes - they pulled out some stops, made it interesting, fun to watch. Finishing by a field goal in OT seemed only appropriate. Hor players: Vilma, Moss and of course Big Ben, even if his QB rating stunk up the place, he did what he need to, when he needed to.

You can add me to the list of disappointed Jets fans sad.gif ....but even though Doug Brien looks like the obvious goat for missing those two kicks, IMHO Herman Edwards and Paul Hackett deserve the biggest blame....didn't they learn ANYTHING from Marty's blunder in S.D. last week (which Schottenheimer himself admitted he would do differently if given a second chance)?....when the Jets offensive "braintrust" went ultra-conservative just because they were on the 25 yard line setting up an "easy" field goal attempt I was screaming at the tv before Brien even missed that second kick....since when is a kick of 40+ yards a "gimme", especially in a playoff environment like that on the road? rolleyes.gif

Oh well, I do have to agree with MiamiDr that the Jets advanced further than anyone expected....but when given a golden opportunity like that, you still hate to blow it.

I DO think that Roethlisberger's inexperience will continue to cost the Steelers and whoever wins the Colts-Pats game (my money is on Indy) will definitely represent the AFC in Jacksonville.

I didn't get to see the game, but when I saw the highlights on CNN World, I was very disappointed with the outcome, even though the Jets played better than expected. The Jets still need to find a way to not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in games like this. They only won last week, because the Chargers wanted to lose more than the Jets.

Anyway, I hope you all had a good time. I would have liked to have been at your place Shore, but it's likely I wouldn't have been pleasant at the end of the game. smile.gif I hope you all had a good time watching the game.

Trust me... Even here from joyful Amsterdam, he was not pleasant upon hearing the Jets news. I had to indulge him with the finer aspects of the Netherlands to cheer him up tongue.gif eek! !
