I don't know why this made me think of you guys, or if that's a compliment or not. But it did.

Brawny Man Gets Makeover

I like the new guy. I had never really thought to care that the Brawny man was lookin' a little dated, but change is good. ha ha.

I really didn't have much to contribute, other than to say out loud that this is pretty funny and add another notch in my postings belt so that I can reach the coveted Outsports No. 1 ranking. 1 down, 2000 to go....

Truth be told, they both look gay to me.

The old one looks "old school" gay (read: 70s/80s San Francisco stereotype, with an aesthetic/wardrobe direct from the set of the TV's "Tales from the City")

The new one looks...uh, well, "new" gay. At best, Chip Arndt (darker hair, from Amazing Race) gay...at worse, Chelsea Muscle-Queen/Clone.

Isn't it amazing how we have progressed from having "pure white" paper towels to just "white" paper towels. smile.gif

I always liked the old Brawny guy - But the new guy looks more brawny cuz you see more of his chest - while the old one just looks like a big head.

He's still the quicker-picker-upper. [smirk]

The other person who got a makeover, albeit for politically correct reasons, was Aunt Jemima.

Mr. Clean could still kick his ass.

Btw, those two Brawnies side-by-side kinda give me a Starsky & Hutch vibe.

Someone remind me...what Simpsons episode featured Marge having a thing for the paper towel man (I don't know if they used Brawny or made something up) so Homer and Bart decided to play a joke on her and say he was coming to their house for dinner?

Hey Joe, I FINALLY remembered: the paper towel guy that Marge falls for was the "Burly" Man. I don't remember the exact episode, but didn't they use the super absorbant paper towels to drain a ravine because there was a body at the bottom? Was it Waylon Smithers father down there?? Hope this helps. smile.gif

I think that's the one, Seph! I wonder if I have it on tape to check it...I used to tape every episode but a couple of years ago I started missing it some weeks, and when I went to Baltimore for all those months I gave up on it entirely. Besides, they're all being released on DVD, so I should have a complete collection again, oh, a few years after I die. eek!

Have you guys seen the new Brawny commercial featuring the old and new Brawny man? It really has a lot of gay undertones to it.

The old Brawny guy is teasing the new Brawny guy because the new Brawny guy is watching a TV soap and knows all the plot lines. And then the commercial ends by saying Brawny is new with a "sensitive side."

Hilarious huh? I know they're probably trying to appeal to the women at home watching daytime soaps, but it's almost like a gay person wrote the ad line.

Okay, now they're getting really weird. But funny, too. Little movies you can email with the Brawny guy.

The quicker picker upper.

Check out "That Thing You're Going Through." Creepy, yet hot!

Ok that was definitely creepy! What in the hell does it have to do with paper towels? It doesn't even show a Bounty sign at then end?

OK, that Web site is funny. But when I think of the Brawny man, I'm just obsessed by the new commercials they're showing on air and actually at movie theatres before the previews. They've got this darked hair Brawny man and the guy has an obviously big bulge. I think they're doing it on purpose. I'm just shocked it made it on the air on network TV. And the voice over is so sensual. You know they're playing on sex. I'm shocked at just seeing such a noticeable bulge on TV. eek!
