Joe what are they saying about this new lb from ATL? I know he's been a back-up.. but nothing more than that. Is he the next gem to come out of nowhere like barber did last year?

Well, I'm not supposed to say anything yet, but...the topic in the thread is true. I've signed a 5-year contract to take Shawn Barber's place on the Eagles. The plan is that just before the snap the player next to me will whisper in my ear, "See the QB there? He thinks that Roenick sucks" and then I am unleashed!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

But here's a bit from an article I just read on Mark Simoneau:

QUOTE
Reid said the Eagles were interested in Simoneau, 26, as a restricted free agent. The former third-round pick had slipped to the second team in Atlanta last season. He said he injured an abdominal muscle over the summer, which caused him to fall behind on the learning curve in Wade Phillips' new 3-4 defense.

\"I never really got the playing time I was hoping for,\" Simoneau said.

When inside linebacker Keith Brooking signed a new contract last week, Simoneau asked the Falcons to trade him.

\"That had an effect,\" Simoneau said. \"I knew I wasn't going to get an opportunity to play. That's what I was looking for here, a chance to play.\"

The Eagles traded a sixth-round pick this year and a fourth-round pick next year, then signed Simoneau to a new five-year contract.

Too funny, Joe, and congratulations on your new contract. As a signing bonus, here's a pair of handsome mugs for ya.

JR also sent a warning out to your gridiron opponents: "Don't mess with my Joe...he goes all C-R-A-Z-Y!"

Anyway, here's Simoneau (while at Kansas State) trying to injure someone else's abdominal muscle - from behind.

Simoneau's real mug is even cuter and the rest works too. (He's on the right with the limp lefty wrist and a glimmer of his cute butt sticking out. biggrin.gif )

If Hugh Douglas leaves they'll need all the defensive help they can get.

Any word on him yet?

I meant is HE really a good LB... if this is the exciting offseason... wake me up in August...

The atricle i read today, and previous, all say that hugh is more concerned with winning rather than big money... As long as he gets a fair contract, i think he'll be back... FAIR contract being the key word. To get it, andy might have to cut down on a few cheeseburgers a week tho.

Cheeseburgers? Maybe. Cheesesteak hoagies? Fugetaboutit! He's outta here!

Don't think anything could come between Coach Reid and a good hoagie.

Andy's a good BYU boy.... definately cheeseburgers... double stacked 3/4 lbs greasy cheeseburgers... What do you think he's doing when he's got that play sheet infront of his face? definately not calling plays...

Might give him the befefit on this LB, barber turned out to be good, so just maybe... If he had drafted him.. i woulda said bust.

The idiot who said that (Joe Banner) now says he regrets using those words. Too bad.

They'd like us to think of Simoneau as becoming the same type of player that Barber became. Even so, they're still in need of linebacker help at any rate. They were able to hide the Levon Kirkland/Barry Gardner shuffle until Joe Jurevicius turned his only catch into 71 yards in the NFC title game. And if Douglas leaves (that's still up in the air) there's another hole.

P.S. Thanks for the links to my boyfriend, Seph!
