Philly obviously will be here at some point, but I can't rank a team that gets shutout (even if it is by the Bucs great D!).
Joe in Philly
Maybe we could get everyone's responses and do an Outsports Power Rankings? I bet it'd be more accurate than ESPN's. wink I'd be willing to tabulate the totals from week to week.
Mariner Duck Guy
That's the answer I was looking for! Bingo! Go for it, Joe In Philly, and I agree, I bet our will be more accurate than ESPN's AND we may even see some bloodshed/action between fans of two certain teams.
Joe in Philly
Yes, those Cardinals and Bengals fans can sure get out of hand. biggrin.gif

Okay, let's set it up this way--but if you have suggestions on this feel free!

Anyone who wants to participate can send me their ranking of the top 10 teams via e-mail or PM rather than posting them all here. I'll add up the votes and assign a point scale--10 points for #1 vote, 9 points for #2, etc. No tie votes, please. Then I'll post the results (or send them to Outsports if Jim & Cyd would prefer to put them on the main site). For this week, I'll have to finish it before I leave for Pittsburgh for the weekend (on Saturday morning at 7 a.m.--ugh!) so get your votes to me by Friday, 7 p.m. ET. Next week we can make the deadline earlier in the week.
Mariner Duck Guy
Thanks for doing this! So, Seahawks #1, JoeyLions #2....kidding. You have the MDB rankings for the week.

Joe in Philly
You're entitled to your opinion. biggrin.gif

Remember, everyone, e-mail or PM your votes for this week's rankings.

We've got some more voters but some of those who voted last week haven't done so this week. We actually have one less overall. I think I'll hold this for one more day so anyone who still might want to participate can do so.

Go ahead and post Joe. I'm anxious to see the new rankings.
Mariner Duck Guy
Hey Joe In Philly, what's the ETA on the power rankings?

And voting the Raiders #1 is just as weird.
blatino
No it's not!!! Raider Nation baby!!!
and no everyone, I wasn't the one to vote them #1.
Actually, after watching them play like crap last week I think they deserve a #31 ranking...just above that other team in the bay.

As a Packer fan, if Arizona was the worst team in the NFL then what does that make us? Still ahead of the Bears unless they beat us Monday Night.

After last night's game, there's no rational way the Raiders ought to get a vote. Am I allowed to throw out ballots that are obviously wrong? Hmmmm. wink E-mail or PM your votes for the new poll...I'll try to pick out the legit e-mails in the midst of all those stupid virus messages I've been getting in the last week. But it's okay, because I'm getting the cable modem on Thursday! wink

Following Week Three's games, here are my power rankings:

1. Denver (3-0). Though Oakland is overrated and aging, Denver is looking like worldbeaters right now.

2. Seattle (3-0). This is not last year's run defense. The Seahawks have looked too good for this to be a fluke.

3. Indianapolis (3-0). The Colts defense is finally starting to catch up to the offensive talent. Now if only the offense can step it back up.

4. Miami (2-1). They'll come down to Earth again in December; after all, these are the Dolphins. But right now, they're a lot better than Week One.

5. Buffalo (2-1). This team still isn't consistent enough, but the defense looks much better than last year's dreadful unit.

6. Kansas City (3-0). The defense is playing well to go along with the Priest Holmes show. Watch for this team to make a move.

7. Tampa Bay (2-1). That overtime loss to Carolina made the Bucs angry and they made the Falcons pay. Look out to everyone else on Tampa's schedule.

8. Tennessee (2-1). Another team that benefitted from Oakland not being as good as advertised. They'll need to keep McNair healthy to keep their Super Bowl aspirations.

9. Pittsburgh (2-1). The Steelers are winning despite playing un-Steelerlike football. Look for them to get their legs when they start running again.

10. N.Y. Giants (2-1). If the Redskins hadn't beaten themselves with penalties, they'd be right here. The Giants are probably not this good, but not a lot of other teams are.
Jim at Outsports
1. KC: They are playing like the '99 Rams.

2. Tampa Bay: Stout defense

3. Indianapolis. They look for real

4. Buffalo: Give them a mulligan for Miami loss

5. Denver: Jake looked pretty good

6. Tennessee. Always play hard

7. Pittsburgh. The Bus looks back

8. Miami. Still can't believe they lost to Houston

9. Seattle. Nice win over Rams

10. Minnesota. Will be tested in next five weeks

1. Indianapolis-Just wait til Marvin Harrison gets rolling-Bucs will serve as measuring stick in Week 5.

2. Kansas City-I always get nervous when a Priest is in the house, still turnover prone or would be #1

3. Seattle-Dominate in first two games, showed the resolve of champs with late drive to win in week #3

4. Denver-Portis health an issue, and still not sold on Jake, albeit a nite in the sack might change my opinion.

5. Tampa Bay-Sure remind me of '85 bears, is Sapp gonna lead the "hip hop to the super bowl video" next?

6. Miami-Tossed opener so founders of this site, wouldn't look silly for picking Houston to make playoffs.

7. Buffalo-Every team has two stinkers each year

8. Carolina-Can Jack Del "he's my" homme put up enough points to allow that defense to keep making big plays?

9. Baltimore-The nice thing about having no passing game means a steady diet of Jamaal Lewis.

10. Pittsburg-Can beat you so many ways, yet you can beat them with just as many.
Boltergeist
1. Tampa Bay - We may not be ready for Beyonce Sapp's jelly, but THAT Miami guy catches the ball.
2. Denver - Plummer might get the hang of this let's go wild in the first and not the 4th quarter thing
3. Kansas City - Waiting for a big game situation before jumping on their bandwagon.
4. Seattle - Hear that sound Mike, it's the Packers begging for you to return.
5. Indianapolis - More games like last sunday and Reggie Wayne might be the triplets newest addition.
6. Washington - Lavernaues Coles for MVP? Coles may become best acquisiton since the Rams got Marshall Faulk in '98.
7. Carolina - If they ever discover an offense ....
8. Tennessee - If there ever was a lunchpail team, the Titans are it.
9. N.Y. Giants - How does this team do it?
10. Minnesota - Is the duct tape running out, their 2nd string offense may be starting soon?

Bless you. wink We've got 9 votes already. More are welcome. You may want to use the PM over e-mail--since I'm getting the cable modem tomorrow once I'm all set up I'll have a new e-mail address.
Cadillac
1. Tampa Bay - Crazy in love with em...
2. Kansas City - O looks great
3. Seattle - love the all green uniforms
4. Indy - looking forward to seeing Dungy in Tampa again, MNF no less
5. Denver - Broncos that good or Raiders that bad?
6. Minnesota - at this pace will easily win weak NFC North.
7. Miami - D looked improved over Buffalo
8. Pittsburg - just because
9. Giants
10. Tennessee/Carolina - tie
Mariner Duck Guy
(sigh)...Joe, I think it's hopeless. Don't know how we can be any more clear.

By the way, are you planning on posting the results each week on certain days, like every Thursday or Firdays or are you going to post the results on time availability? Just wondering.
Joe in Philly
As long as not all the votes are posted here, there will still be some mystery involved in the final totals each week. biggrin.gif

But one rule I'm sticking to is: no tie votes. Please select one team. Thanks.

As far as posting the results, I'm thinking maybe on Thursday night each week (earlier if there are Thursday games). So any last-minute voters get them in before, say, 11 pm ET tonight.

And I've changed my e-mail as the cable modem is in and all seems to be working so far. I've finally joined the 21st century. biggrin.gif

Good lord, once again a Vikes fan talking smack? Remember that 15-1 got no where in the playoffs season? Thought so!
Kenny
what? They have played Green Bay's hasbeens, Chicago's couldn't win a game to save Soldier Field and Detroit's "we got a coach but no players". Palease! Got to give it to you though, Minnesota got the best schedule in the league this year. Can you keep Moss out of downtown in a traffic pileup though? That is when you can pull his nose away from the crack.

OUTSPORTS NFL WEEK THREE POWER RANKINGS!

A total of 12 voters--an all-time record! biggrin.gif This week sees Washington and Oakland drop out of the top 10. Oh, Kenny - Stinker is STILL bitter over who that 1 loss was to. But you're right they haven't played anyone...and the NFC North is VERY weak this year.

THANKS JOE FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER!!!!

What are these voters smoking? I understand homerism, but what about realism? Does anybody really believe the Rams, Cowboys or Raiders are among the league's 10 best or are they just voting for their favorite team? Inquiring minds want to know!
