A column on the book and the NY Times writeup
from Philadelphia Weekly... QUOTE
Queenan addresses a number of fan topics in his pages, and much of it rings true. Other parts sound a little silly--like when he suggests that, being a Philly boy and all, maybe he's learned to actually like the city's \"euphoria-deficient\" sporting atmosphere. It's a rationalization only a beat-up Philadelphia sports fan could make.
Should it be taken at face value? Hardly. Queenan's a humorist, not a literalist.
Only a miserable, befuddled, babbling out-of-town numbnut would take the observations of this long-suffering Philadelphia sports fan and viciously turn his words against him.
There is such a numbnut. His name is Tobin Harshaw, and the tagline under his review of Queenan's book in last Sunday's New York Times describes him as \"an editor for the op-ed page of the Times...\"

Question: What kind of sports fan would come to Philly and cheer so offensively loud for the other team that he'd need a police escort to get to safety--not once, but twice?
A New York Times Cheesehead Pussy Boy sports fan.
Obviously.
So if you happen to be at a Philadelphia sporting venue and hear a certain guy from southern Wisconsin cheering for the other team, buy him a beer and tell him it's compliments of Joe Queenan. And because he thinks we're all losers anyway, make damn sure he's wearing it.
