I'm not sure about the limitations in number of telecasts but, as PhillyFan stated, the public explanation I read earlier today was they wanted to eliminate the chance of a wild-card playoff team having to play their opening round postseason game on short rest, as the 49ers did this past season -- gee, I guess that explains the Niners first half debacle and near loss to the Giants on wild-card weekend....imagine if Tagliabue hadn't changed this rule we might actually be faced with a few more exciting finishes to postseason games?
I do think the Jets-Skins opener should be fantastic, though -- especially with Chad Pennington and Patrick Ramsey, two of the league's young, up and coming QB's (not to mention both of em are awfully cute) trying to lead their team to early season success.
