I always thought kickers were supposed to be coordinated.

This guy sounds like kind of a clutz.

The one thing that popped into my mind was that if this had been Brian Griese he would have just cut his leg clean off.

Are kickers really football players though? smile.gif Kickers are the left-handed pitchers stereotype of the NFL (i.e. they're air heads)

Damn, I wanted to start this thread after I read this a few minutes ago.

This is the best part of the story:

This isn't the first time Hanson has been injured in an unconventional manner.

In June 2002, Hanson, his wife and former Jaguars kicker Jaret Holmes were severely burned while they were making fondue at Hanson's house, and the fondue pot overturned.
I get the feeling this guy says "D'OH!" a lot.

the Jaguars should keep him away from Leftwich, just for their future

I thought the stereotype of the NFL kicker was that he was a little runt.

Certain kickers broke that mold (like Chip Lohmiller when he was in his heyday with the Redskins and Adam Vinatieri, who very famously chased down and tackled Herschel Walker). I think Maryland kicker Nick Novak may be another mold-breaker if and when he starts playing for pay on Sundays. He regularly works out and doesn't isolate himself from the position players (he also is probably the coolest of the Terps... during an impromptu rally for the Terps in 2001, he was the ONLY one who added a pat on my back to the handshakes I got from several players).

I would like to see people do other things besides kicking (like Pat Summerall being both kicker and end).

Well, Seabass Janikowski of the Raiders (the world famous Polish drunken kicker) would probably be able to smack a good tackle down on a guy.

But, the Gramatica brothers - well, I could probably wrestle them into submission.
