Only two weeks left for those of us who've yet to feel the thrill of claiming a weekly title. I may have to resort to fixing the damn thing!
This week (as well as Week 17) we have Saturday games. I will need the picks for those games by 1:30pm Saturday, which is kickoff of the first game. The rest of the picks are due by kickoff Sunday.
There are indeed a couple of games with big time playoff implications. The Vikings have an opportunity to play spoiler for another playoff-bound team as they host the Dolphins. Miami was impressive in beating the Raiders last week, but how will they fare in the dome as they try to secure home field throughout the playoffs? The Jets are on the Critical List after blowing one to the Bears last week. They now have to travel to New England to play the Pats, another team hat suffered a bit of a set back. Loser is done. The Titans take to the road to play the Jags. They are still only tied with the Colts despite having won 8 of 9. But home field is within their grasp. The Colts have a tough one when they host the Giants. The GMen have been pretty solid in Decembers past and are playing for their playoff lives and their coach's job. The Chargers seem to be doing a repeat of last year's end of season flop. They need to win in Kansas City this weekend to keep their hopes alive. And the other AFC West teams square off as the Broncos visit the Raiders. Denver is coming off a huge win in KC last put them back in the hunt. Can Clinton Portis pull a Ricky Williams and lead the Broncos to the victory?
The NFC leaders would seem to have an easier time. The Eagles travel to Dallas to play the inept Cowboys. The Packers play host to the Bledsoe and the Bills. The 49ers, NFC West leaders, head to the desert to take on the Cardinals. The Wild Card leaders look to have cake walks this week. The Saints, the most unpredictable of all the contending teams, visits Cincinnati to play the woeful Bengals. Meanwhile, the Falcons host the almost-as-woeful-as-the-Bengals Lions. The NFC South leading Buccaneers have what would seem to be the toughest game as they host the Steelers on Monday night. And I haven't even had time to mention the Panthers-Bears or Texans-Redskins!
If you've not played before, you are still invited to join in this week. For those who have played, the rules are the same. And for those who would like to play its really quite easy. Each week, I will post the complete schedule of NFL games for the coming week. You simply predict the winner of each game. We don't need no stinkin' point spreads here! Here's how you do it:
1. Pick the winners in EACH game.
2. Predict how many points the team you pick to win the designated Game of the Week will win by. This week, its the Steelers at Buccaneers. This will be used for tiebreak purposes.
3. All picks are due by kickoff of the opening game of that weekend. Since we have Saturday games, your picks for the three Staurday games are due by 1:30pm Eastern time Saturday. Your picks for the other games are due by 1pm Eastern time Sunday.
4. Picks MUST be submitted either via the Private Message function or E-mail. My email address is geolovevikes@yahoo.com. I must ask that you do not post your picks here. That way I can ensure picks are submitted before the deadline. Please include your Outsports nickname with your picks! Any questions, email me.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE ALL 16 GAMES AS WELL AS THE POINT SPREAD FOR THE TIEBREAK!!!
