I keep hearing Rosenhaus say something along the lines of "TO is not even among the top ten paid receivers" or some such thing. My question is, then why did you allow your #1 client to sign such an inadequate deal? Wasn't this contract just as inadequate last year? And, if as Stinger says, the Eagles are notorious for cutting veteran players, then why would TO and Drew want to sign with Philly?
About the fact that NFL owners can cut you whenever they want-these guys go into it with eyes wide open. And while most of us don't work under contracts, that's the way it is for most Americans. Your millionaire fatcat employer can get rid of you whenever he wants.
The point is Owens, and especially Rosenhaus, knew all of this yet they still signed the contract. If working in the NFL is so dreadful, then go get a job in some other field.

Rosenhaus, who is just plain slimey, wasn't TO's agent when he signed with the Eagles. I wonder if TO's deal was so "bad", because he brings an ass-load of trouble with him. He's a great athlete, that is not in debate, but all the team splitting and off field bull shit probably has helped to keep him underpaid.
Besides,if I remember correctly, he was elated to go to the Eagles. I wonder why it's so bad all of a sudden, the deal he got to go there.

Whoa, sounds like stinger went off the deep end there a tad.
“The Eagles have a history of cutting veterans and older guys if they become a cap burden”
Who exactly are you talking about? Staley, Vincent, Taylor, Douglas were all at the end of their contracts and became free agents. They were allowed to sign with whatever team they wanted, for whatever money they wanted. Trotter was to sign under the franchise tag, and was let go after he decided he deserved “Ray Lewis” type money. Ask Danny Boy Snyder how that worked out for him.
Nate Wayne was let go last year because he could never pick up the defense. Mitchell was let go (after he never lived up to his first round billing). Both of these players were neither cap problems or cap busters.
Even further there Sting, I can make the case that ZERO of these players have heen huge factors to their new teams. Perhaps Staley is an argument, but given the choice of him or Westy…. You’d probably make the same decision. They were 30 something players on the downside of their careers who excelled in the system the eagles run.
TO’s Contract:
Let’s re-visit. TO wants out of SF so he acts like a baby. Agents screws this up and he is traded to Baltimore. TO throws fit because he wants to play in philly (team offering him the most money). TO comes to philly and the contract is put together so the Eagles have an out after the second year if he proves to be the distraction he was in SF. Over the first 2 years he IS a TOP paid WR. Rosenwhore is simply looking at year 2 of the deal and comparing 3.5 million to the averages of the other WR’s.
Let me address year 3 of the deal (he is scheduled to get 7+ million is roster bonuses). After what he did at the supe and if he put up pro-bowl numbers this year, he was uncuttable. Let me repeat… They would be tearing the Novacare complex apart if they tried to cut him after this year. Why? Because he OWNED the city. Shut up, play and in 3 years… you’ve made 21 million. 7 million a year (not bad).
Management did a smart thing by doing this. Let’s put the blame where it belongs, on TO. His actions caused his contract, not someone taking money out of his pocket.
Here is my favorite line from Sting:
1. Team owners and management always get to use the "this is a business" thing to screw over players (see Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, any other player cut for money after giving a team a great season), so why shouldn't a player be able to ask for a raise after giving an extraordinary season, out performing his current contract
Stinger, You are going to argue with what New England does? I’ve got a hint for you about these two teams. Incase you have not noticed, they have been the two most successful organizations for winning over the last 4-5 years. None of them have busted their cap (Washington, Tenn) over a player or two who feel they need to break the bank.
Then again, how do you “outperform” a contract? Most contracts you see that are renegotiated are done at the end of current ones or with a year left on the current agreement. If a player is drafted in the 3-4 round of the draft and they play at pro-bowl levels (Westbrook). Duh, yes you are underpaid because your initial contract is structured for a 3-4 round pick. In what case have you ever seen a contract redone after one year? Perhaps if you are Danny Boy Snyder and you need to shift money around to sign your draft picks…. TO’s contract does, infact, make him a top 3 WR in the league. TO wants QB money? The entire contract paid right now?
This is what I saw from this week with TO:
1. Told to leave the team.
2. Holds springer type work out on front lawn of house.
3. Helicopters and media show up.
4. Sit ups.
5. Free pizza
6. No comments
7. Invites everyone back for a pool party the next day.
What I saw from his interview.
1. Is mad because Dmac made an attempt to “clear the air” after TO’s has used him as a token to redo his contract. That’s not being a Hypocrite, that’s being a man.
2. Is mad at Childress for saying “Hi”
3. Can not be told by the coach to “shut up”. A coach who has the MOST wins in the history of the Franchise. Most wins of any coach over the last 5 years. A coach who turned a 3-13 team in contenders every year.
4. The Eagles wont re-work his contract because they hate Rosenwhore. Please go ask Douglas and Kearse who their agent is…
5. Doesn’t think he has to speak with anyone outside the business relationship of practice or meetings. Can someone explain what he’s talking about here?
Bottom line for this Eagles fan: I’m sick of TO and his circus. He’s not bigger than a core of players who won without him, and WILL win without him again. I’m sick of him throwing the QB under a bridge to get a new contract. I’m sick of him pouting like a baby. I’m waiting for him to show some respect and professionalism to gain a little in his return.
I’ve seen this team win without Dmac, With ¾ of the DL on the IR, !/2 their secondary out and hurt, and I will see them win again without this jackass on the team.

My main argument points were this:
1. If owners can use the "business" excuse when cutting team favorites, players should be able use the same ploy for their benefit.
2. Team's cut players all the time, so why shouldn't the players try to "get theirs" after they have performed at the highest level.
3. The owner's are as much to blame for this TO circus as is TO. I'm sure TO would have been willing to reach some middle ground, negotiate on what he wants. The owners refusal to even listen or meet left TO no other avenue than through the media.
4. The media knows that while the TO soap opera is going on they have a story that will make an audience tune in to watch. If the situation diffuses, they have to find real news, such as how Andy Reid lost so much weight. So the media continues to stir the pot and let TO create drama.
And here's what I saw from TO over the past year:
1. Signed with the Eagles, became a huge fan favorite, had the best WR production ever for the Eagles shattering team records.
2. Rehabilitating a broken ankle in time to play in the Superbowl against his doctor's advice, carried his team through the Superbowl on his shoulders, and put in one of the gutsiest performances ever.
3. Asked for some reward for his outstanding performance, owners say No.
4. Asks for his contract to be restructured, owners say No.
5. Asks for a meeting, owners say No.
6. Finally creates media mayhem to try to get owners to agree to meet, owners still say No.
7. Shows up for camp feeling like he's sacrificed a lot in return for nothing, develops injury to make a statement, then holds his ground and gets sent home.
The Eagles knew TO was somebody that needed to be coddled and stroked, but they don't do any of that. They wouldn't even let him wear his tights!! He gave into everything they asked, and when he asked back, they said No. If I worked for an organization like that I'm not sure I'd be happy either.
The owners cut the middle ground here, not TO.

Owens was looking and sounding real gay in that ESPN interview shaking his head like a bitch as he ripped McNabb.
Let's face it. Terrell Owens is a bitch...an effeminate bitch.

If there is a problem with the way NFL players are treated with their contract situation, then it is up to the players union to get it resolved not T.O. not Rosenhaus or any individual. Life isn't always fair you play with the cards you're dealt, until a new game begins and not before. My advice to the NFL players who don't want long term "meanlingless" contracts is to just ask for 2 year contracts or don't sign at all. At least then they can keep that signing bonus and get more money every two years.

Why would it have been so hard for management to agree to move some of the money from year 5 or 6 of TO's contract to year 2?
Because if they agree to it once, then T.O. will just ask for more money down the road, saying \"I'm only getting $2 million this year, I deserve more!\" Not to mention everyone else asking for more. It isn't a matter of treating special players like T.O. better than, say, 4th-string quarterback Andy Hall. There are many talented and important players on the Eagles, and many of them can make a case for better contracts. David Akers, for one, is SEVERELY underpaid. Give in to any one and then it shoots the salary cap management to hell, and then you become a team like Tampa Bay.

The owners are allowed to do what they're doing within the rules of the collective bargaining agreement. The players don't have the right to do the same if they've signed their contract.
If players want it changed so that contracts structured the way Owens' contract is structured are not allowed, if they want more or all of the contracts guaranteed, they need to stop bending over to let the owners screw them. They need to stop signing those contracts. And if it's that important, they need to go on strike and have 100 percent of the players stay on strike instead of thinking of themselves and crossing picket lines to play with the scabs.
It was truly a blessing to be out of town last week so I missed all of what had to be non-stop local coverage of this farce. I got the occasional blip on ESPN and a few notes in the LA Times, and that was it. Just wonderful.
The question of the day: has sleazy slimy Drew Rodenthouse managed to get a renegotiated contract for even ONE of his recently-acquired clients?

Ex-Eagle Welborne speaks:
On the NFL | Welbourn loving Eagles’ fix The guard blasts his former team over the Owens controversy. RIVER FALLS, Wis. - You might expect John Welbourn to take shots at the Eagles, given how things ended with the veteran offensive lineman and his former team. You might expect the 29-year-old guard to be a little bitter after being traded in 2004 from a Super Bowl-contending team to the Kansas City Chiefs, who, while certainly exciting offensively, are pretty far removed from the AFC championship chase. And if you expected those things ... you'd be absolutely right. You could ask Welbourn about the Chiefs' chances this season, and how FredEx is doing, but this is better. Ask him what he thinks about the problems between Terrell Owens and Eagles management. "I love it. I love it. Set the thing on fire," Welbourn said on a couch inside Rodli Commons, the team's dorm headquarters at the beautiful Wisconsin-River Falls campus, after the Chiefs' morning practice yesterday. Ask him whose side he takes: impetuous, camera-hogging, me-first T.O. or the stolid, implacable, team-first Eagles. "Pay him all the money he needs. Let me tell you, that guy is worth every penny," Welbourn said of Owens. "I think the Eagles' philosophy is coming back to bite them in the butt, and it took a guy like T.O. to set it on fire." Mind you - this is coming from a guy that says of Owens, "He's a little bit crazy. He's not right in the head. I mean, I love him to death, but he's not right. You know, doing push-ups and lifting weights in the front yard? I was like, 'This dude is crazy. I love him.' " Ask Welbourn about Andy Reid. "It's interesting," he said. "Andy's ego is so ... his presence and his ego and his perceptions ... we used to say they're as big as his waist. He used to say that, too." Call this the flip side of Team Harmony. Ask Welbourn if the rift between Owens and Donovan McNabb can be fixed, and he brings it all back to how he believes the Eagles have mistreated some of their star players contractually over the last few seasons. "You have Corey Simon not showing up for camp," he said. "You have Brian [Westbrook], he shows up, but he's still got no deal. The Eagles have themselves in a situation where, because of the way they've done things, if they break on one person, the floodgates are going to open. "Like with my situation [Welbourn signed an eight-year extension with the Eagles in 2001]. If they had done anything, then all of a sudden, guys like Hollis Thomas and Darwin Walker and Artis Hicks and Tra Thomas and Hank Fraley, I can list you so many guys that were offered long-term deals when they were young, before their value was really established, that are really unhappy people, that are playing well below [market value]. "In that situation, if one guy all of a sudden breaks, and he gets a new deal, then everybody else is going to say 'What about me?' Next thing you know, your whole team is asking." You ask Welbourn one more time - 'cause you can't believe a guy that voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor of California could be in T.O.'s camp - you'd really give T.O. the money? "I'd pay him his money," Welbourn says again. "When I played in Philly, we won a lot of games and we were a good team," he continued. "But you know, when it came down to it, I don't know if it was Andy and them dropping the ball, but let me tell you, basically we should have gone to the Super Bowl the year we played Tampa. And the year we lost to Carolina, there was no reason we should have lost those games." And Welbourn makes it clear that he doesn't think the players lost those games, that there were other factors that tripped the Eagles up on those two critically important days. Management factors. And he's still mad about it. Now, you are completely free to dismiss what Welbourn says as the rantings of a resentful man who was properly sent packing just as his knees began to fail him, and who probably won't start inside for Kansas City this season once multiple Pro Bowler Will Shields comes back from a back injury. You can say the Eagles have done just fine doing it their way, that they've found a successful philosophy that keeps their salary cap low and their locker room full of young, hungry players. All of that may be true. Maybe it is all true. As long as the Eagles keep winning.
-------------------------
And in other news, sour grapes are GREAT!
Welborne is a BITCH!

It's not a network telecast but the "Eagles Television Network" and not even the presence of Ron Jaworski can make their broadcasts anything less than cringeworthy. Asked whether fans should expect Terrell Owens to sign autographs at the Eagles' Carnival tomorrow, Andy Reid said: \"It depends on how his groin is. I've always said, if a player's injured, [he's excused].\" Reid said he wanted to talk to Owens about the matter.
One of the reasons Reid sent Owens home from training camp for a week was that Owens skipped two autograaph-signing sessions at Lehigh that the Eagles maintain were among the six appearances mandated by every player's contract. The carnival certainly would qualify as a required appearance - unless, of course, Owens is excused by Reid after what the coach said was a \"retweak\" of his groin late in the first half.
Makes sense! After all, if your groin hurts it's impossible for you to sit in a chair and sign autographs!

I don't know who's the bigger weasel: T.O. if he doesn't show up, or the Eagles if they let him get away with it.

Letterman Blitzes, Owens Dances
\"I'm going to get to the bottom of this,\" David Letterman promised Eagles fans last night. And he sure tried. Despite his jovial demeanor, the CBS talk show host was as relentless as a CSI investigator scrounging for any ugly evidence. But Owens, who once said, \"I wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl,\" danced more nimbly than he has after touchdowns this season.
D.L: \"How did you not win the Super Bowl?\"
T.O: \"It's hard to win when you have turnovers and we had a few of those. ... We had to be error-free and we weren't that.\" (Quarterback Donovan McNabb threw three interceptions.)
D.L.: \"Did you say the quarterback was sick, the quarterback had run out of gas?\"
T.O: \"No, that wasn't me.\"
D.L: \"Did you hear that someone had said that?\"
T.O.: \"Yeah, I heard that.\"
Did McNabb throw up in the huddle? \"No.\" Did he almost throw up in the huddle? \"No.\" Has he ever thrown up in the huddle? \"I'm quite sure he has.\"
D.L.: \"At any time during the game did you doubt his leadership abilities?\"
T.O.: \"Not at all. I wish I had some headphones right now. \" Then he got a laugh as he made a gesture putting on headphones to cover his ears, as he'd done during training camp to tune out reporters.
T.O. didn't talk to McNabb about the Super Bowl after the game, he said, and while there had been some \"friction,\" they were on the same page now.
As to outperforming a contract, Letterman asked if T.O. had underperformed it would he have given money back? No, said T.O. If I was the owner, said D.L., I'd say, gee, I paid all that money because I expected a great season, so T.O. didn't outperform it. T.O. laughed and said, \"That's why you're doing the late show.\"
Finally out in the street we saw T.O. caught a ball flung from a machine -- followed by the image of a car slamming into a figure in a No. 81 Eagles jersey. Then there was T.O.'s body lying in the street. But he got up and laughed. It was all a gag.
That was the closest Letterman got to getting T.O. to spill his guts.
