Just to get this away from the other thread, let's see those birds threads...
Saturday the 18th all should be in town for the upcoming monday night game of the birds V the vikes. Well the west coast crew at least...
I think we should have a get together in Philly. I will personally make sure that GJ and WM1865 are in town for the festivities. So come on you DC and NYC cats... NO politics will be discussed.
We will tear the town up for an evening of fun.
Dinner? Dancing? a few drinks from the well and tap at woodys? A solute to Willy P? Clang on the liberty bell? Cheesesteaks for all? Some good pizza for the east coast kids? A few E-A-G-L-E-S cheers?
I can make the following promises for the night..
-PF WILL freak JIP on the dance floor (likes it or not)
-Sting will shake his famous booty.
-PF WILL get GJ to rock the dance floor.
-MD and WM1865 will drink many beers.
-You will have fun, plus you have 2 months notice to make arrangements.
-I will scare my str8 buddy who is coming.
-None of us bite
-Sting and Scottie will be giving out kisses for 1 buck each, 2 bucks for the tongue.
-Scottie and Phillyrunner WILL be there too.
-We will figure out who MIB is.
-Lots of Cowpoke jokes.
Should I even mention that there are 2 tickets available for the game should anyone wish to scoop them up. Remember the KEY to any football game is the tailgate.
So come one come all, this is your chance to meet sting before he gets beat silly on monday night by some big guy from jersey.

I figured I post a quick question, more to bump up the thread again.
Has a hotel/amtrak/us-scare discount code been set up yet for out of towners? One must plan ahead for such contingencies.

No.. geez... I stayed at some holiday inn downtown, it was pretty cheap, and not a bad place to stay... Scottie told me to stay there... go figure, scottie knows a cheat hotel in philly. Only difference is this one is by the night and not the hour...

I'm sure that you are more than welcome to stay in PhillyFan's room - he's only there from 2:15 a.m. (when the bars close) until 6:00 a.m. (when they open)

No special rates for hotels or airline (but remember Frontier and Southwest now fly into Phila. airport). Alexander Inn is a small gay, botique hotel, right near the gay bars and rooms start at $99/night. Holiday Inn Express, across the street from Woody's, is PhillyFan's hotel of choice. I'll see if I can come up with an Amtrak discount code for you.

I'm trying to work out plans to either fly in late Friday night or on Saturday. I'm up for anything as long as it includes drinking and dancing.

I'm sure everyone will dance...
JIP told me he was planning some sort of stripping routine... for good luck. OR was it to get lucky?
And MD, well he just said he is planning to get drunk.

Jul 8 2004, 10:13 AM
with MD shouldn't it be "more drunk"?
PhillyFan
Jul 8 2004, 10:21 AM
Sting, that is a bit unfair. When MD gets back from Liquid Lunch-Pre-Happy hour... he's going to be upset... if he can read the screen. It's late in the day remember.
However, MD drinks Coors Lite. Usually about 15-20. So, it gives the impression that it's alot, but not really. I mean coors lite, come on. Even i can drink those and not get too hammered.

Phillyrunner and I will be supplying the tailgates (we should plan on meeting in advance so we can park side by side). I'll supply the libations (although if William's going to be there I may not have enough beer). PF and Stinger -- what are you supplying?

Fellas...
Why dont we just come up with a set amount. Everyone who goes to the tailgate.. it costs X amount. 20 each or something?
Just to be clear, i'm proposing a get together that saturday. The tailgate takes place Monday. Time is TBD.

So do we have this all straightened out for Ted P.? Gay day at the Phillies is Monday, 8/9 (go
here if you want to be part of the Outsports group). Then this get-together Sat. 9/18 and the Monday Night Football game on 9/20.

OH JIP, You will find out what being FREAKED is. You just better hope a camera is not present.
That is also a Saturday, so all the little boys and girls from DC and NYC can get to town stay the night, have some fun... It is quite easy.
I'm working on a demand appearance list....
stinger85
Jul 12 2004, 09:57 AM
JIP, you will find out what getting freaked is by watching Kearse (aka the freak) this year. Getting freaked is a form of dancing, basically like Kearse getting a pass rush, looks a little like pattycake when he does it. Of course that's only when he's not injured and he's able to do it.
I'll let PF freak ya, but when you're ready to party with the big boys I'll teach ya how to get freak nasty! wink

Philly crew, I was telling a friend from Boston that I would be in Plilly for the game in Sept and he suggested that we (him and I) meet up in NYC because that was a midway point.
I know we have the party night set up for Sat nite, but I was thinking I could catch a train to NYC on Sunday and hang out with him for awhile and return either Sunday night or Monday morning.
My question is how much would a train ticket be? And, will we be having a full party weekend on Sunday that I wouldn't want to miss any of it to go hang with a friend in NYC for a while?

Cheapest roundtrip via Amtrak is $98.00 (unreserved coach). Taking the Metroliner or Acela Express will cost more but take less travel time (unless you're me, as proven a couple of weeks ago... )
If you take the local alternatives (SEPTA Regional Rail from center city Phila. to Trenton and NJ Transit from Trenton to NYC) it is much cheaper (not sure exactly, but it might be $7.00 each way on SEPTA and $13.00 each way on NJT, so a grand total in the vicinity of $40.00). The travel time will be a lot longer, though -- around 2 hours 20 minutes -- because both trains make a number of stops.

Just fly to Boston. Recently round trip between PHL and BOS was in the low 80's, I think it is higher now. A Sunday to Monday Trip might cost more since you don't have a Saturday evening stay but not always.
Just a thought since BOS to PHL airline tickets have been very inexpensive lately.
stinger85
Jul 15 2004, 01:07 PM
Thanks, I'll look into both. It looks like the earliest flight back from Boston to Philly would put me in Plilly at 3. Is that early enough to make it to the tailgate party? It should be since the game starts at 8 or 9 EST right?
