23 year old 49er OL Thomas Herrion collapsed in the lockerroom after a preseason game in Denver and was pronounced dead 2 hours later. Herrion (6' 3" and 310 poinds) was on the field for the final drive, which was 14 plays and 91 yards.

I wonder if we have another Korey Stringer situation?

Herrion had been a teammate of rookie QB Alex Smith at Utah.

I'm really doubting this is another Korey Stringer. It was actually a very cool day here in Denver yesterday - game time temperature was about 64, and it rained off and on. That's not to say that heatstroke is impossible in a situation like this, but it certainly is much less likely.

Here's hoping something positive comes of this tragedy.
