Welcome, wrigleygui....hope to see your posts often here....even though Wrigley Field can't match Camden Yards for the combination of "old fashioned" architecture and appearance with modern-day amenities (and I consider myself to be a "baseball purist"), Chicago is still an awesome city -- especially this time of year before the bitter winter approaches....not trying to start a feud cause I love the Windy City....great to have you on outsports and glad you found this awesome site!

hey wrigley - welcome - i used to live on eddy st just a block or two a way and I still miss it in the summer - my parents have season tickets, 7th row, 1st base side, to this day and my brother and others catch dozens of games....
hey tzeile - you need some work on your analogies: "outsports is spreading around the globe like the hiv virus?" ouch...that's bad.

It's pretty tasteless, to say the least. You could have said "Outsports is spreading like Homer Simpson's stomach after a big meal" or something and made the point.

First of all welcome Wrigleygui! Hope this thread doesn't turn you off Outsports. Sorry but I just have to address this other stuff.

Comparing the spreading popularity of Outsports to the spread of the plague of our time doesn't disparage Outsports? As John McEnroe would say, You cannot be serious!

gee, friendly raillery is allowed on this board, isn't it? why am i being raked all over the coals for an innocuous post? i'm sorry, but y'all have wrongly construed it. i love this site.

Welcome, Wrigleyite. Right now I'm a Camden Yards guy, but next year, when the Expos are in DC, I'll be a - well, actually I have no idea where they're supposed to play. RFK? Ugh. I'm Kennedy guy? Can't imagine that. (See Politics and Religion thread and you'll understand why.)
Zeile, I thought your post was funny in an Ann Coulter-like "Did he just say that?!?" kind of way. That's a compliment, by the way.

Maybe you'll be lucky and Bob Barr, in his final months in office, will try renaming the stadium after Reagan (like he did to NATIONAL Airport) - or since the stadium's named after an AG -- Meese Stadium!

WHATEVER!
Go Sox!!!
Oh, and welcome to the Board. Maybe we'll get enough Chicago outsports fans to have a get-together (one was tried once but ended up not happening).

Or maybe even Ashcroft Park! I like Reagan Field, though.

Tziele - sorry they're ganging up on you - so I have a question for you to lighten things up:
How are the Mets doing in their play-off Run with Robby Alomar ?
bryan d.

tziele - you're not being raked over the coals and your analogy wasn't innocuous and it wasn't friendly raillery (if it was, it's even worse, for good natured ribbing about the spread of hiv is even stupider than what I originally thought of your analogy)...and i never said you disparaged outsports...all I said was: bad analogy. You reacted by telling me to lighten up...i'm sorry but you compared the growth of outsports to the growth of HIV/AIDS around the globe. Shock value or whatever, it's idiotic..and instead of back tracking and claiming you're being raking over the coals, why don't you just take responsibility for a very insensitive analogy. How simple is that?
Then we can get back to talking about Chicago and sports - a great combination....

Each and every year I say I'm going to do a weekend in Chicago just to check out Wrigley Field, and each and every year I put it off until next year. Same way with Fenway Park.
Is there an Archer Avenue near Wrigley? I think that's the street name from the film "The Royal Tenenbaums."

Archer is on the south/southwest side of chicago, heading from about Chinatown to near Midway Airport. It's the northern border of Bridgeport, which is where Comiskey Park is.

For some reason I hate the White Sox. I really just can't stand them. I have no basis for feeling this way. It's just a gut instinct. I don't like them. Never have. Never will. Hate the White Sox!!!!!

The Mets are doing as badly as everyone expected the Cleveland Indians to do. I was looking in the Outsports attic and found this from the first week of the baseball season:
I didn't say they'd go undefeated, I was making a point that the Tribe isn't as bad as most thi
Sound familiar, osufan?
So there's no confusion, I tease because I love, buddy. That goes for you, too, tzeile - I know you didn't intend it as it was construed.
