Full Version: Michael Vick vs. Tom Brady

Are you starting to get the feeling that when we're old old men, we'll be telling stories in the nursing home about how we got to see to the two greatest QB's in the history of the game: Michael Vick and Tom Brady. Once Brett Favre starts to decline, the difference between these two and the rest of the NFL QB's should be about the size of the gulf between Tiger Woods and the rest of the PGA tour. And, yes, I'm including Peyton Manning and even Donovan McNabb.

Brady just keeps getting better. He's the new Joe Montana ... only better ... and quicker to get his first ring.

But Vick ... he's what? A more athletic version of Brett Favre? Maybe the bastard love child of Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk? Plus, and this is not unimportant, as he gets older, his baby face is disappearing and he's quickly becoming one of the handsomest men on the planet. I wasn't much of a fan before this season, but I'm a true believer in this guy now.

Brady or Vick? Who'll be the better QB? Brady's definitely the better QB right now, but by the end of next season, who knows?
And since we're gay male sports fans, too:
Brady or Vick? Who's the hotter looker?

Your tossing aside of McNabb in this equation is premature. And Vick has so little experience thus far. He's a rising star but he's not there yet.

I think McNabb may be the best thing to happen to quarterbacking since Johnny Unitas. Too bad Philly may never get him the "team" he needs to get the numbers (rings, wins, etc.) to compete with the Montana's and Namath's.

Brady is not that good yet, but he has a "team" and he's willing to be a part of it. That's his greatest strength, so far.

In the looks department, Michael Vick is fantastic and getting better, and something about left-handers sets my motor running. Brady is a doll, but doesn't hold a candle to his former mentor and competitor Drew Bledsoe when is comes to sex-appeal.

One Brady advantage: there's still hope that he plays for our team. His stock would instantly rise for me with that.

As much as I am a New England fan, I have to say you're being a bit premature on evaluating Brady. He did an amazing job last year, but that was as an underdog (both the team and the player); it remains to be seen if he can handle the pressure of a repeat performance. It looks good so far, but the season has barely started.

I certainly hope, and believe, that Brady has what it takes to be great - it will be a relief after years of waiting for Frankenstein's monster to fulfill his promise.

Three weeks into the season and I'm having a serious problem seeing what's standing between the Eagles and a Super Bowl appearance.
Green Bay? No D. Almost blowing a game to the Lions is a MAJOR red flag.
New Orleans? They look good now, but better Saints teams than this have choked in the playoffs.
Tampa Bay? Half a team. Brad Johnson'll be hurt soon, too.
St Louis? 0-3. It's over.

The Eagles are the class of the conference. There are several very good teams in the AFC - and New England looks especially good hence my willingness to concede Tom Brady god-like status - so I'm not willing to award the Super Bowl trophy to the Eagles right now. But it looks to me like McNabb's got a clean shot at equalling Joe Willy Namath, at least, in number of Super Bowl rings (which is: 1).

I expect McNabb to end up a Hall of Famer. It's just that I expect Brady and Vick not only to be Hall of Famers, but to be candidates for the all-time team. Example: Jim Kelley's in the Hall of Fame, deservedly so, but he's not a serious contender over Joe Montana for the all-time team.

The whole league is cursed and blessed with the Patriots' cinderella season last year.

Anything can happen at this point and with the skins and giants in their division, I wouldn't make any predictions for the eagles yet.

One good sign - they've actually won a home game already. No small feat considering they had the leagues worst home record among division leaders last year.

You're too pessimistic when it comes to the Eagles. We've already seen what they did to the Skins, so let's move them aside. As for the Giants, they'll prove to be almost as weak (if that 9-6 thriller over Seattle isn't proof enough). The division is clearly theirs, and the rest of the conference doesn't look all that scary either. The only thing to worry about is overconfidence, and that shouldn't occur because of how they fell short last year along with the opener this year vs. Tennessee.

McNabb is great and the Eagles are the team to beat in the NFC. Vick is so damned gorgeous it's almost painful! Those eyes, those lips, that alluring dark brown skin...package and sell some Vick at a premium, Atlanta! Brady is the real thing. I just wish he hadn't launched his stardom on my poor Rams, who are flailing about like a bunch of blindfolded chickens! I'm going to start a thread about them--sad, sad....
