Full Version: Pre season Coverage Sucks
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Football, Pro
GMENLOVER
Anyone else annoyed by the sloppy coverage by NBC & FOX for the first two televised games? I know its only preseason and there are mistakes... and even the commentators are getting back into the groove. But there is no excuse for not bringing the camera back to the play when the ball is snapped. That's sloppy directing and careless. Heaven forbid the game gets in the way of "expert analysis". Shut up and let us watch the plays---

In St. Louis, we didn't get the Fox coverage of the Colts vs. Rams game because the game didn't sellout (so the game was blacked out). True story...

They aren't doing too bad of a job on the NFL Network. They are showing large portions of all of the games in progress and then repeating them in their entirety the next day.

The same thing happened with San Diego, blacked out there

I've noticed that the NFL Network is currently showing games via the market's local CBS affiliate... is the channel owned by CBS?

No they have access to the rebroadcasts of all preseason games that they show during the week

I was reading up on this at their website yesterday. The NFL Network is showing rebroadcasts (and at least one live broadcast) of every preseason game not on one of the national networks. In the first half they're showing the home team's local broadcast and in the second half they're showing the visiting team's local broadcast. Yesterday they had live coverage of the Pittsburgh-Arizona game (hyping the new Cardinals Stadium); they used the Arizona broadcast in the first half and Pittsburgh's feed in the second half. The Arizona opening montage featured a graphic calling Cards fans "the best fans in the NFL" -- what a load of crap! But I digress... tongue.gif

They did the same thing last year with the pre-season games as well.

I'm not feeling the Monday Night Football. I don't like the graphics and the little sound effects. I don't care for all three of the guys. Something seems very amiss. Hopefully it will grow on me and it'll get better when the games mean more.

For years I've said there's no reason for two sideline reporters--an unseen production assistant can ferret out whatever injury-related information comes from the sidelines & relay that news to the booth announcer--and, last night didn't change my opinion. As for Kornheiser, I get the feeling his entire purpose there is to bother Theismann; that shtick could grow wearisome over the course of the season.
