There, I said it.

Their site has gotten so bad that one can't read an article without it being one of their so-called "Insider" stories, which are nothing more than stories culled from newspapers and public news reports around the country (as an ESPN individual admitted).

I wasn't looking for "inside information" or anything of the sort today; rather, I simply wanted to read info on a couple transactions going down and a preview of Baseball's winter meetings. For each of these stories, I had to become an "insider," which means registering and PAYING. Yeah, right.

And don't get me started on their annoying ads and that stupid little commercial that auto-plays on their site.

I'm sticking with the CBS Sportsline site and Fox Sports' site.

I would agree with you here MIB. I have felt this way ever since ESPN passed up or should I say, dropped out of televising hockey since the dispute was settled. I find myself rarely, if ever now, listening to or much less watching anything on the channel, with one exception, tennis. Thats it. I never watch sportscenter anymore.

Well, I was referring specifically to their web site, but I completely understand your feelings about their broadcast channel(s).

I also like MSNBC's sports info. I'm so disappointed with ESPN.com.

I don't even go there either any more. wink

I completely agree. ESPN isn't worth the trip to the website if you want to read anything.
Give it a month or two, and they'll want you to pay for everything on the site including the scoreboard.

MIB, I'm in total agreement with you about ESPN.com (and ESPN, the TV version) and its incessant misuse of "insider" information, much of which comes from their people merely reading a newspaper--which they fail to cite in their reports.

I just tried going to ESPN.com, and they immediately asked for my credit card number before I could even get to their site! WTF?!? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I still go there every now and again, but Ken Rosenthal from FoxSports.com managed to get the scoop with every report and rumor involving the Hot Stove this year. ESPN was behind with everything and you have to pay to read rumors you can find free elsewhere....like FoxSports.com.

It has gotten ridiculous.

The ESPN rumors that for which they want us to pay regarding New York area teams (Yankees, Mets) are usually just lifted from the New York Post anyway. I don't think they pay the New York Daily News, New York Times, New York Newsday and Newark Star-Ledger when they can get all of their rumors from one newspaper.
