Just read a headline off MSNBC, where the NFL is reportedly considering moving the Saints to Los Angeles, if New Orlenas is unable to recover from Katrina according to the Washington Post.

It frankly would not surprise me a bit, as sad as that is for New Orleans. The city may never have the population base to support an NFL team after this. It will also take years to re-build the stadium, and frankly IMO, New Orleans has other priorities..
I would say San Antonio also has a shot....

I wonder if the NFL will give New Orleans the Cleveland Browns treatment allowing the city to keep the Saints name for the team to be reborn in a few years. Whatever happens, Tom Benson will make out like a bandit. His pockets were already lined for years with New Orleans tax dollars.
The Los Angeles Saints...

As I posted on another thread about this, if they move to LA (and it's far from being a sure thing) the Saints should change their names. Los Angeles and Saints are incongruous, sort of like the Utah Jazz--another former New Orleans team.
LA has made numerous promises to improve/update the venerable Colisseum for the Saints, should they make the move west.

Seems like
LA is FINALLY gonna get a team (if no suit happens by 4/1/09, that is). Bills, Vikings, Raiders (oh no pleez not again), or one of 5 other teams? Hmmm! Frankly, I wish it would be an expansion team, but...
If anything, it'll certainly be good for our local economy. Not only building the stadium, but also the revenues that come w/ having a team.

Well I wonder who the other 5 teams are? Why wouldn't the article identify them?

Because it's just a guessing game. They have no concrete plan to get a team, they're just hoping on it. And I doubt they get the Bills, because if the Bills go anywhere it'll be Toronto.

The possibility of a suit aside, seems that
the NFL & LA are serious enough to get a team here. If the stadium gets a green light I think it's gonna happen. What team wouldn't want to land on a brand-spanking-new stadium in the 2nd largest media market in the country?! I think both the city & the NFL sees this fact alone as a win-win situation.

Why did LA lose its teams before? Why did the NFL allow both teams to leave? Size alone the only factor that makes for a good market, although LA's overwhelming size makes it a mystery why the NFL isn't there. Based on support for USC/UCLA, it's certainly an area that likes football.

They left for several reasons, but it boiled down to Georgia Frontiere & Al Davis wanting to bolt.

Yeah! On any given Sat home games there are 150K+ between both stadiums. Imagine a Sun NFL stadium. Go figure!
