Has anyone not gotten tired of this guy already?

From the Tampa Tribune:

QUOTE
TAMPA - Mike DePue has been a high school football coach for nearly a quarter of a century, a Bucs season-ticket holder for more than 20 years and, until a recent run-in with the six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, a fan of Warren Sapp.
An invited guest of the Bucs as their high school Coach of the Week, DePue says he found himself the object of verbal abuse from Sapp at a recent Tampa Bay practice. Afterward, DePue wrote a letter to Bucs General Manager Rich McKay and Coach Jon Gruden thanking them for their hospitality and the award - which includes a $1,000 donation to Robinson's football program - but notifying them of the altercation with Sapp.

According to DePue, he and two of his assistants, Rob Burns and Vaughn Volpi, were at One Buc Place viewing practice from the sideline when Sapp walked to an area near them and ``threw a tantrum,'' apparently for DePue making eye contact with Sapp.

``I was just looking around in practice and he [Sapp] said to me in a confrontational tone, `Do you see what you're looking for?' '' DePue said.

And as Sapp walked back toward practice, DePue said Sapp used foul language and said he would ``give me more [verbal] grief if I looked at him again.''

DePue's initial reaction to Sapp's outburst was one of shock. He says that being a coach, he knows proper etiquette and protocol during practice. From where he and his assistants were standing, DePue believes he didn't invade any player's ``personal space.'' In fact, defensive end Simeon Rice and Gruden made it a point to greet them during practice, DePue said.

But after the confrontation with Sapp, DePue says the experience at One Buc Place has been soured.

``It just left a bad taste in our mouths,'' DePue said. ``We were invited guests and it was totally uncalled for. But bottom line, I've got much more important things going on in my life than worrying about Warren Sapp giving me a hard time.''

The Bucs declined comment on the matter and said Sapp was unavailable.

I used to think his trash talking and sophomoric acts were cute -- but after his cheap shot on Chad Clifton last season, he's been on my enemies list. I'm surprised he's not a Raider. Hold on -- Chuckie's the coach ... he is a Raider.
PhillyFan
gee, that's funny based on his weight and stats this year.... i didnt think he was even practicing... go figure.
Cadillac
That's NOT suprising. Everyone in Tampa knows if you're foolish enough to approach Sapp to "enter at your own risk". He routinely denies children his autograph. To me he's nothing more than a football player. One that I would avoid at all cost.

When you're at the game, do you and other fans actually cheer for this P.O.S.?

Have he and Keshawn created team division in the locker room?

It seems to me, amidst a rash of injuries, this team's ship is sinking (more like imploding). I'm not even sure they'll be able to beat the *gasp* Cowboys this Sunday. Oh my God, I can't believe I just said that.
Cadillac
Sapp and Keyshawn have not created division on the team, in fact, they seem to get along well now. Initally I think there was some friction which is to be expected with egos the size of their. As far as cheering them, of course, but it's more a statement for the team, not the individual.
BigBucBoy
for the last several years, the behaviors, rumors and actions of Sapp have continued to esculate. Quite simply, he personally appears to be a prick. I have more than one friend that has been around him and said the guy just is very arrogant and rude. But you know, for as much as he may be a dick personally, he's has/had an incred career and has to be one of the most intense and "into the game athletes" I've ever seen. Not to mention one of the most entertaining. One has to love that.
coyoteugly
I saw a small preview of this Sunday's ESPN NFL Countdown this evening, with Michael Irvin interviewing Sapp. The preview I saw centered around the "slavemaster" comments. I'll definitely be watching Sunday morning. My feeling is that this guy is heading towards an eventual suspension.

This "league against Warren" stuff is getting very old, especially given that he deserves the scrutiny he is getting because of his immature behavior.

I can't believe everyone isn't all over the race card with Warren like they were with Limbaugh.

The fact that Michael Irvin would "conduct" this "interview" tells you everything you need to know about ESPN and its credibility. This is nothing more than two jocks bitching. Obviously Michael Irvin isn't going to ask any question that challenges Sapp's obnoxious and wrongheaded actions and comments.

funny, even Chad Clifton said the hit was legal, but then again who is he to say so???
Kenny
Like him or not, he is getting exactly what he likes... Attention. Whether good or bad. And everyone gives him it, hence this thread. Kind of reminds me of someone who posts on here???

The guy is a total bore. His antics have really worn thin.
PhillyFan
You know fatt sapp had one... maybe 2 good years...

His time is over now... I could understand if he was putting up numbers and running his mouth... but i mean... come on!

Not to fear tho... fatt sapp will have eaten himself outta the league in another year or so.
coyoteugly
He has the balls to say in the ESPN interview that the NFL is hurting his marketability by not allowing him to remove his helmet.

I really wasn't anti-Tampa, but this guy makes me want to see that team go down in flames.
Kenny
I know people ONLY like to hear the negative, but here is a positive... which I am sure noone wants to hear.

After practice on Friday, several of the players lingered on the field for a few minutes to meet with a special visitor who had come all the way from Lawrence, Kansas to see his favorite football team.

Twelve year-old Daniel Barnhill was that visitor, brought to Tampa through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Born with cerebral palsy, Daniel has been in a wheelchair since birth, but his dad said, “His face lights up whenever he watches the Buccaneers play and he always laughs when Warren (Sapp) gets a sack.”

The demonstrative defensive tackle is Daniel’s favorite player, so he was particularly excited when Sapp was the first player to leave the practice field and make a beeline for the young Buc fan. Sapp spent several minutes chatting with Daniel and his parents and siblings before signing his football.

Many Buccaneers followed Sapp, including Darien Barnes, Derrick Brooks, Chartric Darby, Cornell Green, John Lynch and Shelton Quarles.

YES PF, I did copy and paste. By the way, speaking of the numbers, have you noticed how many times Sapp is double and triple teamed? Giving Rice 4 sacks against your fave skins?
PhillyFan
this is my favorite...

“His face lights up whenever he watches the Buccaneers play and he always laughs when Warren (Sapp) gets a sack.”

He must not be very happy very often... pity.

Ha - I have to jump back to this. After watching both these guys on NFL Countdown this morning.... Sapp is whining that the league is out to get him for no reason, and that the league has rules which hurt him from marketing himself. And Keyshawn is complaining about not getting the ball enough, and hinted strongly that Gruden is purposely not throwing the ball to him. These two are cancers and think only of themselves.

This team is a sinking ship. You heard it here first. No playoffs for the Super Bowl Champs. Too much "I", not enough "team" on the Bucs. They may win today over the Cowboys, but they're a .500 team at best due to the injuries and the two malignant cancers.
Kenny
Daniel was happy today, Sapp got a sack.
coyoteugly
Harrison, Holt, Moulds, Moss, Owens, Ward, Burress, Horn, Coles, Chad Johnson are better than you Keyshawn.. you cancer!
Kenny

Yawn all you want. You beat the Cowboys (although I was rooting for them).

You heard it here first. No playoffs for the Super Bowl Champs.

You beat the Cowboys. The Cowboys.

I stand by my statement - No playoffs for the Super Bowl Champs.
Kenny
PF wanna be! eek!
Kenny
been meaning to ask you this... What were you(a person living in Phoenix) doing on the Tampa Tribune site?
coyoteugly
Sorry for the late reply, I was watching my team go:

>>>----- 8 - 0 ----->

I heard about Warren's antics with the high school coach (Classy move, I'm sure you're all so proud!) couldn't find anything immediately on the wire services, so I went to the local paper to see if anything was reported, and there it was.

Berating a high school coach for "looking at him," and then he has the nerve to say the NFL is hurting his marketability. I don't think he needs the NFL's help, he's doing a great job on his own!

Kenny, did you happen to see Warren's and Key's interviews today? smile.gif
Kenny
Yes I did. By the way, if you are going to be a PF wanna be, you need to refer to them as Fat Sapp and MEEEEShawn(frowning your brow and gritting your teeth while you are typing the MEEEEs).
coyoteugly
Kenny, why try to change the subject to PF? The subject of this thread is the Official Warren Sapp, shut your pie hole thread.

Oh, and speaking of the Tampa Tribune, did you catch it today online? Check out Off-Field Antics Wearing On Bucs Fans. There's a fine little piece of multimedia work saying Based on their reaction before the Bucs shut out the Dallas Cowboys, fans are growing weary of the attention Keyshawn Johnson and Warren Sapp are generating off the field. Good stuff.

Oh, then click on Bucs Soundoff: IS THE BUCS' SUPER BOWL SWAGGER BACK? Some great comments there like Enough is enough. It's time for the Bucs to get rid of both Warren Sapp and Keyshawn Johnson. Their off-field antics have become a distraction, and right now they are thought of as nothing more than mouthy malcontents by the vast majority of Buc fans. and I love it when they get the swagger but they need to keep their mouths shut and let the play do the talking.

So Kenny, what are your thoughts on Warren and Keyshawn? Still drinking the Tampa Kool Aid and standing behind these guys, refusing to see them for who they are?

coyoteugly:
Kenny, why try to change the subject to PF?
Kenny just has a huge crush on me i guess... very tough being popular and everything.

MEEEEEEEEEE-Shawn, well when you hear him talk... you just know that he turns on the tube when he gets home from the games looking for what kind of press he got, or what kind of press he didnt get. Then tells everyone what they did wrong, or what they needed to report.... or how it wasnt his fault. Or how many more times he needed the "damn ball"....

Fatt Sapp just gets mad when the free food buffet doesnt have the right desserts for him after the game. Fat, over rated, loud mouth who's numbers have consistantly gone down year over year.. So, really in the end it doesnt matter. He wont be playing much longer anyway.
Kenny
All I care about is their performance for the team. I don't even agree with them most of the time, but that doesnt mean I do not respect their play. Would I rather they not be loudmouthed? Sure! But last I checked this is a free country. Keyshawn spoke the truth that Parsells was a far better coach and preferred by him, does that mean I should not like him and boo him like the fans did? Not me, I am not that type of guy. Are you expecting me to believe that because of these two running their mouths, the Bucs are not going to make the playoffs as you so predicted? Come on now. Base your prediction on something of value and merit.

By the way, you see that sack Sapp made going after Carter even though his helmet was ripped off of him by the O-lineman? I think he must have paid the guy to do it so he could get the exposure he wants. rolleyes.gif
Kenny
There he is! I knew it wouldnt be long till he was chiming in! And he even did my fave... scrunching that face and gritting his teeth and typed MEEEEE-Shawn. That's the best!

You know... a sack for Sapp? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz he's a DT. Most of the time that position is for clogging the run. Not FLASH time and face exposure. Sapp likes the face time and not the dirty work. McFarland is the best DT on that team right now. I'd fall down on the ground also if i were carter looking at that ugly mug coming after you... i mean, without the helmet sapp could have mistaken carters finger for a hot dog and tried to naw on it for a while. Who wants that?

Actually if you want to have sapp have 10 sacks and 20 tackles in a game... this is all you have to do... put a big pork chop on the QB and a nice double cheeseburger on the RB. He'd be all over the field. It would be scary.
Kenny
By the way C.U.- I see no reason KC will lose a game until the playoffs, look at their schedule. I know this isnt the "proper" thread for this, but I don't feel like starting another one. There is one game that "might" be tough, the Vikings. But look at their other 7 opponents? They have done a great job getting to 8-0.
William1865
I haven't been keeping up that closely with the whole Sapp brouhaha - been more focused on the Bucs' roller coaster ride of a season. Having said that, these guys are not greeters at the Wal-Mart. They are athletes, and for many athletes being aggressive and even arrogant is a key part of their game. Perhaps Sapp will one day lighten up and bake cookies for the opposing team, but I don't think that would be an improvement for the Bucs.

As far as his complaints about marketability, etc., yes, they are dumb, but - and this probably isn't a nice thing to say - lots of pro football players are not all that bright. They didn't go to college to learn, they went to play ball, and everything else was secondary. So perhaps Sapp didn't pick up the logical and analytical skills needed to understand that his comments are absurd, and that (as I see it anyway) in football a name, a team and a reputation are far more important than a face. There's a reason jerseys are adorned with numbers and names on the back, and not airbrushed renderings of each players glamour shots.

As far as Sapp's slavemaster comments, I daresay many early American slaves might have been more content with their plight had they been receiving Sapp's salary and prestige. The whole slavery thing is as trite as a Hitler/Nazi reference. But Sapp is not an intellectual force, he is a physical force, and his comments should thus be taken with a grain of salt.

If Bucs fans don't like Sapp, they can not buy tickets or boo him. It's a free country.

Here is my problem with these guys... they are about themselves, not the team. Meeeee-shawn has NEVER been a great WR, but he thinks he should be in the hall of fame. Sapp never saw a camera he didnt like. Owens is happy to get 10 catches not 10 wins. Moss barely runs a play he's not involved in...

None of these bums wish to do the dirty work to get a win. Sapp included.

Compare that to say, iverson. Yeah, the guy is a punk.. but i've NEVER in my life sees anyone lay it on the line 100% each and every time he steps to the floor. Which is something you have to respect in the end.
Kenny
QUOTE

You see, it's all about interpretation. Although Key runs his mouth, when there is a play behind him, he is there blocking. How many good receivers do you see trying to do that, rather than being primadonnas? So if Key is not about the team, why is he doing it? Plus I have seen the man, get flat layed out, and get up and want to stay in the game. Gruden asks Sapp to come in and block on offense, he does it without complaint. Although, doubt you would agree.
PhillyFan
Gruden: fat ass you want a chance to play O and get a td?

FS: Yeah coach. Might get me another commercial.

You cant spell Key without MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEshawn. Isnt this the same guy who almost single handedly ran dungy outta town for his man billyboy? Am i mistaken in remembering parcells shipping him outta NY?

There are sooo sooo many unlikeable people on this team, it's hard to count them all.

Kenny writes, “Are you expecting me to believe that because of these two running their mouths, the Bucs are not going to make the playoffs as you so predicted? Come on now. Base your prediction on something of value and merit.”

Not the sole reason but a contributing factor. Let’s face it Kenny, these two are major distractions. You don’t see these types of distractions with the NFL’s leading teams (division leaders) – Dallas, Minnesota, Carolina, St Louis, New England, Indianapolis, Tennessee, etc. These types of antics distract the team from concentrating on football. The two most cancerous teams in football – Tampa Bay and San Francisco. Injuries are also a factor. The fact that every team gets “up” for the Super Bowl Champs is another factor. The fact that the team is 1-2 on their home field… What’s up with that? You are very beatable on your own turf. You have two games left with a New Orleans team that plays you tough and is getting better every week. You have games left against good teams fighting for playoff spots on their own – Carolina, Green Bay (major revenge game here), Giants and Tennessee. I’ll concede the Houston and Jacksonville games to you, but that’s it. You have a tough road ahead of you. I also do not believe you have the offensive firepower to come back in a game when you are down.

I turn on the network pre game shows and I have to hear these guys, and we have other more important things to hear about than Warren and Keyshawn. But it’s jammed down our throats week after week. William1865’s comments are spot on. I would also like to see the media take Warren to task for his “slavemaster” comments like they jumped all over Rush when his comments included race, but they won’t. I’m sick of the race card being used. One of my former employees said to me once, “Boss, you always know when someone is not trying when they blame someone else.” With these two guys it’s always someone else, never themselves, and they’re never called on it. Quick to take the credit, and quick to spread the blame.

Kenny also writes, “By the way C.U.- I see no reason KC will lose a game until the playoffs, look at their schedule. I know this isn’t the "proper" thread for this, but I don't feel like starting another one. There is one game that "might" be tough, the Vikings. But look at their other 7 opponents? Do I want the Chief’s to go 16-0? Absolutely. Will they go 16-0? Absolutely NOT!

One last comment, not sure why the hatred is so strong between you and PF, but I think he was at the same bar I was yesterday, wearing his Brian Dawkins jersey, watching his Eagles on the big screen in the corner, and he’s pretty easy on the eyes… maybe you two could…. Nah, it would never work. smile.gif
Cadillac
PF - you have just CONFIRMED that you are a complete moron if you think John Lynch is overrated!

You don't wear envy well.

Nor does your team wear a Super Bowl ring like your all-time favorite Buccaneers do!

CU - I've seen PF - he's NOT easy on the eyes.

Maybe people might not like Pittman, but you cannot be serious about any others? If someone hates those other guys it certainly is not for the playing football, but rather some sort of jealousy. Have you noticed they are taking that Richie dude and turning him into a FB like Alstott?

Actually CU, PF is cool. I like ribbing him and giving him a hard time. Plus I feel bad that he has all that anger built up inside. Anyone who would hate Lynch for sure has problems!

Lynch gets the press cause he's the only white guy on the D. He's good against the run, weak against the pass... very well known.

#48 is nothing like the fumblestott machine who's never lead blocked for anyone in his life. You may not have noticed but with 48 leading the way, the eagles running game is off and going.

Catches a few passes, gets one or runs every now and then... Not to mention flattening the defenders when buck, duce or westbrook are behind him....
Cadillac
Lynch is DA Man!!!

PF - is Da bitter Man!

Seek help PF, I thought by now you would be over the losses to the Buccaneers!
PhillyFan
the yucks are not in the Iggles division, so i dont care... if i really hated them that much, i would have rooted for Dallas.

Carolina is the team to be concerned with this year, we all know the bucs cant play against physical running teams... good luck with that.
Cadillac
ah yeah, you would have pulled for dallas? I don't think so....Aren't they in first place in the NFC Least?
Kenny
Well CU, forgive me if I do not buy into your logic, or lack there of.

Plus, how can you say KC won't go 16-0. Teams left for them to play after their bye week:
Cleveland at home
Cincy away
Oakland at home
San Diego away(at this point)
Denver away
Detroit at home
Minn away
Chicago at home.
The only danger "might" be the Minn game.

Have faith my man, have faith!
