Tonite is my draft! I have the #5 pick in a 10 man league! I am thinking of taking Kurt Warner #1, I know everybody says grab a RB, and I am thinking if Priest Holmes is still available I'll take him, my friends already have penciled Moss in for me, so picking Warner could throw everybody off guard! What do you all think? My belief is there are a lotof gr8 RB's but only Warner and Culpepper and maybe Garcia stand out at QB! Any advice is strongly appreciated!

Randy Moss is too great a risk for a pick as high as #5. High ceiling, yeah, but if the Vikes stink this year, and that is a possible, he could go into a nasty funk and put up Jimmy Smith kinda numbers. Which are still good - just not "1st or 2nd round pick" good. I also think that there are way too many A- grade WR's available to waste a first round pick on WR, even one as good as Randy Moss or Marvin Harrison.

I think running backs are a premium because, in a 10-team league, there are too few superstud RB's to go around. In my analysis, the gap between the fifth best fantasy RB (not to be confused with real life RB's) and the sixth best is HUGE: (1) Marshall Faulk (the #1 pick in EVERY fanstasy league in America), (2) Ahman Green, (3) Shaun Alexander, (4) Edgerrin James, (5) Priest Holmes ... and then a huge gap to ... who? Ricky Williams? Eddie George? Corey Dillon? Curtis Martin? LaDainian Tomlinson? None of those guys are bad, but they won't get you the points the first five will.

So that leaves QB's. Who are the 1st round caliber QB's? Kurt Warner. Peyton Manning. Jeff Garcia. Probably Daunte Culpepper. If you don't draft a QB in the first round, you probably could still pick up a really useful Brett Favre or Donovan McNabb in the 2d round with the 16th pick.

So who do you pick with the 5th pick. Depends on who the first three non-Marshall Faulk picks that go ahead of you. If they're all RB's, go for Warner. If Warner and maybe another QB, you could pick up a great RB.

And if you're drafting on looks, going for the all-stud team: AHMAN GREEN.

Good team! I have a couple of the same players, so just keep on top of injuries and bye weeks and you should be well. Don't be attempted to keep on trading, adding/dropping, etc. it'll just ruin your initial feelings about the draft. One thing that really bothers me about fantasy football, is that you're constantly being warned about injuries, but at the same time they say "it's not serious and the player is expected to be fine for Game #1". This just goes on & on whereas you're probably fine. You just need to check in about an hour before game time, watch some pre-game shows and everything should be cool.

It's my first year playing fantasy football, so I've got a learning curve here, but I think I'll do okay with Jeff Garcia, Eddie George, Fred Taylor, Ed McCaffrey, Darrell Jackson, Bubba Franks, Brett Conway and Bengals Defense, as starters. My backups are tremendous!

It'll be tons of fun! Can't wait for Thursday night when the SF 49ers will totally dominate the NY Giants. Garcia will be a great contribution to my fantasy points in that game!

I'm only doing one fantasy team this year -- on Yahoo! -- and I'm not overly excited about the one I've ended up with:
QB: Brett Favre, Trent Green
RB: Priest Holmes, Jamal Lewis, Thomas Jones
WR: Isaac Bruce, Jimmy Smith, Ed McCaffrey, Keenan McCardell, Johnnie Morton
TE: Jay Riemersma
K: Mike VanderJagt, Matt Stover
DEF: Philadelphia Eagles, St Louis Rams

I got stuck in an auto-draft league, had the 10th pick in a 10-team league, and these were the picks according to my pre-rankings. Way too many Chiefs, I know. Please Dick Vermeil, make this team a winner.

Johnnie Morton is a fantasy tradition for me: he's always on my fantasy teams -- and I'm not just referring to the Yahoo! types either. Between he and VanderJagt, I figure I got at least two guys from the All-Looker team. (I know I know: most folks here would include McCaffrey in that too.)

Ernie Conwell is available as a TE on the waiver wire. Should I grab him and waive Matt Stover? The Colts bye week is still awhile away, but it's before Buffalo's, when I'll need a sub for Riemersma (who I'm expecting to have a big year, now that the Bills have a real QB). Between my two defenses, I figure I'll go week to week on picking between them, based on quality of opponent.

Get rid of your Giants. They are poison! Get rid of Tiki. Get rid of Toomer. Don't look back.

Great choice of QB's. How many at each of the positions do you get to play each week? I'm wondering, though, if you have enough depth at WR.

I also see you got Thomas Jones from the A-Cards, at RB. I did too. Question: who is he? Where'd he come from? Is he really going to be any good? I got him because he was ranked high and I could grab him up with a low pick. I don't know a darn thing about him. And I'm nervous about having any A-Cards on my roster (David Boston would've been an exception).

Our league starts 1 QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR/TE, 1PK, and 1 Def/Spec Teams. We play straight up, no team vs. team! I hope NYG kick some ass! Not a fan but starting both Barber and Toomer! Thanks for your responses!
