Full Version: ESPN's Chris Berman -- schtick getting old
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Football, Pro
DCBucky
Anyone else tired already of Chris Berman's commentary on the games? I enjoyed the first few years of his sound effects, "could go all the way", singing "San Diego Super-Chargers", "Marshall, Marshall, Marshall" etc.

But now it so old hat and uncreative.
George Twins fan
I especially notice how lame Berman has become at an event like the ESPY's. In a room full of big time celebrities, his jokes fall flatter than a Doug Brien extra point attempt. I swear, when he breaks into his routine, I get so embarrassed for him that I get douche chills.
Joe in Philly
It's excruciating to watch him anymore--whether in the studio or doing baseball play-by-play.

DCBucky, you are so right! Berman's same old stuff year in and year out are beginning to grate on me pretty badly.
Jim Allen
When he's not acting like he's wired on speed, Berman's alright; he certainly knows his stuff. And for better or worse, some of his cliches have become, er, um, cliches:

Rumbling, bumbling, stumbling!
He. Could. Go. All. The. Way.

etc.

Actually, his criminal fashion sense is more worthy of derision, I think.
Maddog
Schtick is good. It's usefulness is second only to duct tape. Go Berman Go!

Mad "as a hatter" back back back "hair of the" Dog
