I haven't read the whole story yet, but according to a headline on msns' home page the 49'ers, as expected have released (fired) Coach Mariucci!! I understand in reading th eheadline now that former Vike Coach Dennis Green is being considered along with Jim Mora Jr.

Here's a
link to the ESPN.com story. Interesting line from the above article:
[quote]Sources within the 49ers organization said there were philosophical differences between Mariucci and the club and that he wanted more authority, including asking for the title of vice president of football operations.
A source close to Mariucci denies that he asked for more authority.

Will the Bengals fire Marvin Lewis and go for Mariucci?

This is better than "Search for Tomorrow". (That's an old soap opera in case you young whipper snappers didn't now). Might Mariucci end up in Jacksonville and Denny Green end up close to home in San Francisco with all the decision making authority he wants? Tune in tomorrow!

Bye Bye, Marty...the Mooch will end up in Detroit now...perfect match...he's a Michigan man (well technically the U.P)..AND he's Tom Izzo's best friend (although if Tom keeps blowin' games, he'll be gone soon)...
Mooch is the man the Fords wanted in the first place;they couldn't get him so they took his Offensive Coordinator when they took Marty M.
You heard it hear first dudes....

Major technicality! That's Packer Country -- Mariucci grew up a Green Bay fan -- that being said, it'd be great to see him land in Detroit. The Pack owned the 49ers during his tenure there -- I'd like to continue that tradition with a division rival!

Mariucci will go to Jax.
I still can't believe they fired him. God, I hate the 49ers.

As a MAJOR 49er fan I am SHOCKED and APPAULED that Mr. York would fire Steve Mariucci!! There aren't ANY coaches available out there that are better than Mariucci right now, and I think this will prove to be a dark day in Niner history.

I can't believe they fired him either! He's a great coach with a few divisional conference titles under his belt. I guess it's all about the Superbowl....
So we've lost hot little Chuckie Gruden and cuddly Mooch in the course of two years. sniff.....

Here's the latest on Mooch....Mariucci's agent told Jacksonville's Wayne Weaver "NOPE"...that Mooch wants to take some time off and do some broadcasting...hey, Parcell's ESPN gig is open; jump on it Stevie!
Word from Detroit is that he wouldn't even consider displacing his former O coordinator Mornhinweg....but hey, Marty only has a year left on that contract and after a year behind the anchor desk, Mooch may be ready for a comeback...

Sounds like a plan to me. Take a year off with pay, then have your choice of jobs the bext year.

Unless they go to the Super Bowl next year, I could easily see the Giants job opening up. We'd welcome Mariucci here in a heartbeat!
Another disappointing season in Chicago could also mean an opening there. Same in New Orleans or Seattle. Any of these would be better than what's available this year. Mooch should take a year to recharge and take what will undoubtedly be a better offer next year.

Mooch to Seattle.
That would make him the most hated man on either side of the bay. That is, if he can win in Seattle.
