According to Len Pasquarelli on ESPN.com, former Packer tight end Mark Chmura met with Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder about the possibility of returning. Chmura, remember, was acquitted of sexual assault charges in 2001 when he allegedly engaged in improper conduct with his kids babysitter.

Good for him. Remember, he was acquitted. My only concern is he is going to DC. UGH!

You mean the Skins and Spurrier are actually talking to someone who didn't play for Florida! (That's all to be it seems lately.)
As for Chmura, I'd be skeptical about his health -- the official reason the Pack gave for releasing him was his recurring neck injury.

My "15 minutes of fame" was a letter that was published in Sports Illustrated regarding Chmura. I criticized the nerve of referring to himself as a "role model" after his famous incident, which by the way happened not long after posing for pictures with George W. and other GOP during the election campaign. He also refused to go to White House because of President Clinton's Lewinsky scandal after the Packers won the Super Bowl because of Clinton's morals. SI edited my dig inferring that Washington would be the best place for him to play in light of recent political events (Bush had just been inaugurated).

Chmura is a hypocrite, albeit a hot one, but a hypocrite nonetheless
I don't care if he was aquitted or not, the fact remains a person who wouldn't appear at the White House because of a sex scandal has no reason hanging out at a party full of underage drinkers.

I'd love to babysit his kid.

Chmurra and the Bush daughters in the same town? It's gonna be a fun winter in DC.

I think the Bush daughters are too old for Chmura's tastes.

It's about time I saw HOT Mark "Chewy" Chmura in new duds. Those photos of him in his Green Bay uniform are getting kind of old.
If he does make it back to the NFL,I'll be getting all excited over the HOT STUD tightend in his tight spandex football pants.I just hope he wears another uniform,as the Redskins'
isn't one of my favorites.
He is such a HUNK,that I really don't care if he is or isn't a hypocrite.

Well, thank God. I hoped Spurrier wouldn't want football's version of a Catholic priest in camp.
Dudes like that are like school on Saturday--no class.

Come on Zman I think you are going a bit over board here. The girl was 17 not 5!!!!!!!!! If people on this board can tell me that they have never thought a 17 year old was attractive then I say you may cast the first stone (but remember the snowboarder guy you all were gushing over just a week or two ago was only 19 and all these college players everyone constantly makes sexual comments about are only 18-23).
And then there is the fact he was aquitted so like it or not we have no proof that the guy was ever guilty of doing anything illegal. Should he have been in a situation were this could have happened – no but he is human and humans make bad decisions.
Personally if the guy can still play then I say sign him up!!!!!!

I really don't care if Chmura plays again; I don't think he should be banned from the league for his actions. But there's two major points that I have to disagree with spartyon about:
1) There's a major difference between lusting after 17 year olds and actually hanging out at their hot tub parties, especially if...
2) You've publically stated your religious beliefs and condemned, with moral outrage, the actions of others. Once you open yourself up as a preacher of virtue, you've got to practice what you preach or pay the price.

I fully agree. To lust after an underage drinker is one thing but to seduce them with the wife and kids at home and bible in your back pocket is a bit much. As far as acquittal, we could wrap the world twice over with a list of names of celebrities who are acquitted or agree to a lesser charge.
