The LA Times had a blurb on this on Sunday. So I checked it out. Better put on your sunglasses and sit down before you open the link. The helmet logo is likely to induce vomiting if you're not careful.
The Pasadena Thorns - an alternate plan for the NFL in LA I'm still nauseous from the helmet. And the viking rip-off mascot near the bottom of the page is downright foolish. I don't know whether to laugh or puke.

As stupid as this is, the REALLY stupidest idea is this "American Idol"-style crap at halftime of Monday Night Football. A player teams up with a musical artist and does a little performance, and you can vote online who wins. As if being subjected to Jim Belushi's "singing" isn't enough.
Does anyone remember when sports telecasts were all about...sports?

Alas, this website isn't a joke. There's some dude who actually believes he can sell the NFL and the city of Pasadena on the concept. The reason why it it would never work is that the residents surrounding Arroyo Seco will never allow it. Anyone who's been to a UCLA game will tell you that it is a horrific experience getting into and out of. And the residents live in constant dread of Saturday home games for the Bruins. Adding an NFL team to the mix would effectively f**k every weekend up for those poor souls. This was the main reason the Rose Bowl has continued to be left out of NFL discussions - the community doesn't want it.
As for the helmet design, I'm still quivering with revulsion. And one would think that anyone willing to put together a website would run the text through some type of spell check. Christ! He mentions "tailgators," which I suppose are tailgater Florida fans. God only knows why Florida fans would be at the Rose Bowl.
And I quit counting the number of sentences where important words were missing, such as verbs. Hmmm.
Part of me wonders if the guy who developed the idea is 16 years old.

Not only is the "American Idol" style talent show ridiculous--it's not even original. I remember during the 1989 Super Bowl pre-game, NBC staged a similar players' talent show. You'd think they would have learned from that fiasco!
