I'd call it a mild upset, playing in Hartford, despite the fact we beat them at their place last year as well. It's about time PC got some respect from the pollsters. They were just outside of the top 25 in the AP, but didn't even get a vote in the coaches' poll last week despite being in the top 10 RPI pretty much all year.

One has to begin to worry about UConn a bit...Villanueva, who I thought might put them over the hump, was invisible today. PC plays zone exclusively, and UConn didn't solve it too well, hitting only 2 three pointers...

UConn is ahead of last year as they should be with pretty much the same cast and more. It's discouraging that they don't play as well as it seems they should. One thing they haven't had (since Donyell Marshall) is the tall forwards who can shoot and rebound- Villanueva is one, but he's still raw. Seems like most of the best teams have one or more people who can fill that role. For some reason since Gordon came they don't have the strong starts like they used to. For all his talent, he doesn't have a great basketball IQ- too many impulsive passes or moves to the basket with no real idea of what he'll do. He has a lot of lapses on both ends where he's not reacting to a situation and/or thinking ahead. They have finished strongly the last two years and UC fans are hoping that will again be true. I hope Providence keeps it up!
