Louisville will be without their head coach for a period of time as Rick Pitino will take a leave of absence for an unspecified urological disorder. Doctors have not ruled out prostate cancer. Here's to a speedy recovery and return to the bench.

Pitino is quoted as saying he's been in "severe pain for three months," but that "most men my age have these sorts of problems."

speculation on campus has ranged from kidney stones to just about everything else....

The replacement interim coach, Kevin Willard, does not have much coaching experience at all. He was arrested last week for driving drunk and is the son of Holy Cross (and former Pitino assistant Ralph Willard)

Pitino is almost getting to be like Dean Smith in the Number of assistant coaches he makes into head coaches of their own programs (Florida, Kentucky, Murray state etc etc) I wish I could get one of them back now.

ESPN is reporting that Pitino mya be back as early as this weekend's game against Marquette. Nothing official about the medical condition, but at least it is not cancer as had been widely speculated.

let me correct that.... The sports information office at the University has ruled out "prostate cancer" . Any other form of cancer (i.e. testicular cancer) has not been ruled out.
