Very excited about this evenings game against Stanford. Last year Gonzaga at one point ran up a 10 point lead over this same Stanford team, only to see it vanish when Ronny Turiaf sprained an ankle. This year Turiaf is healthy and a huge part of the Zag effort.
Go Ronny and Go Zags!!!!

Well, I feel your pain, puckman. I guess Stanford should get our votes for #1.
My Jayhawks won, though. That means we'll drop another spot in the next poll. wink

Stanford is playing very well right now. They could be scary good if Childress -- their best returning player who has not yet played this season -- returns healthy.

The Zags looked totally flat and lifeless for the better part of the game. Coulda...shoulda...woulda...they waited to late to get the rally going. I heard they haven't had much practice time this past week due to finals. It showed.

Ah yes, the same refrain heard after the Stanford/Kansas game this year. The loss had nothing to do with Stanford's play; it was entirely due to Kansas/Gonzaga having an off night.
Well, from my seat (5th row -- it was too cool!), the Stanford defense had a lot to do with the Zags inability to get any rally going. Turiaf looked lost against any of Stanford's 4 big guys.
I understand about finals, but you just have to suck it up and play through it. Stanford played a game against UNLV -- who had won 5 straight, including wins against USC and Cal -- the Saturday of their finals week. They played without Hernandez and without Childress and still won by 15.
Give the Cardinal a little respect! Hats off to Morrison, though. That kid's a player.

NorCal: I certainly was not attempting to make excuses for the Zags here. Just stated what Mark Few has told the Spokane media. And you are right, they were outhustled, outplayed, and outgunned by Stanford. My hats off to them. I know the Zags will bounce back.

Sorry, puck. That was aimed more at Kansas fans, who (interestingly enough) nearly unanimously expressed dismay at what a poor game Kansas played against what they declared an "average" Stanford team who they felt didn't even deserve to be ranked.
I agree, the Zags will bounce back. They've done a great job against a very tough non-conference schedule. Depending on the draw each team gets, I think both Stanford and Gonzaga could go deep in the tournament this year.
Is Morrison a local Spokane kid? He's impressed me every game I've seen this year.

Not a problem NorCal. Yes, Morrison is from Spokane. Played at Mead high school here, which is just north of the city. In addition to him, they have another player from Spokane. I don't know his name, sorry here, but he hails from my ala matter, Ferris High School in Spokane too. wink

You sure didn't hear that from me. Stanford's playing well, enough said.
