The season's barely begun and we have our first casualty. A 2-4 record and some off-court problems will do that.

He's the first coach in the history of the Big East to be fired in season. It's St. John's worst start in 80+ years. Jarvis has been pushing (apparently harder than most would have liked) to have a new on-campus arena built to replace the crumbling Alumni Hall. And he has had lots of trouble recruiting in the NYC area due in large part to poor relationships with area high school coaches. The fact is that there is no other competition to recruit against in NYC and that is as much responsible for his firing as his 2-4 record.
