Seeing Dee get 2nd team was a huge shock to me. Offensively his numbers dipped in some areas below last year's, but I guess more of it was keeping that team together and keeping the Illini in the Big 10 race a lot longer than some people expected them to. And I'm sure there may have been some name recognition votes.

As for the first team, I'm pretty much in agreement with the voting on that.

Second team:
• Dee Brown, Illinois, senior

• Rudy Gay, Connecticut, sophomore
• P.J. Tucker, Texas, junior
• Leon Powe, California, sophomore

Third team:
• Craig Smith, Boston College, senior
• Glen Davis, LSU, sophomore
• Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina, freshman
• Nick Fazekas, Nevada, junior
• Allan Ray, Villanova, senior

Well, seeing as some were picking the Illini to finish 6th or lower in the Big 10 (11) and Dee's leadership was the main reason they tied for second, I'd say he was deserving. You also have to remember, he never played point before this year and he was recovering from a broken foot yet his numbers only slightly dropped.
