Full Version: Heatley suffers eye injury in Europe

Joe in Philly
It's a serious injury -- he was hit in the eye by a shot from a teammate. The club doctor is confident that he'll regain full eyesight, however.

The article states that all players in the Swiss league are required to wear visors. So how did the puck hit his eye? The article is so sketchy that they don't even know which eye was hit, let alone whether his visor was on or off.

According to the story I heard yesterday on ESPN, Heatley was hit in the right eye but the Los Angeles Times reports it is his left eye. The Thrasher web site confirms it is the left eye. The Times did provide an answer to something I wondered about: if an NHL player is injured while playing in Europe, the NHLPA insurance policy does indeed cover it.
