The Arizona Diamondbacks and Randy Johnson have agreed to a contract extension: two years for $33 million. This makes the Big Unit the highest paid pitcher in baseball history.

He does produce results for the DBacks, but I still wonder how we can live in a world where an athlete gets to make $11.5 million a year while other people struggle to get through each day. In theory, the market is willing to pick up the bill through ticket sales, but it still seems a shame that so few make so much, while so many need so much.
