Heard an interview with Tim Leiweke from the owners meetings in which he said that because of fears about the CBA changes, many teams are looking to move players and he expects the month prior to the trade deadline will be far busier than any he can recall. He believes that even some "franchise players" (those one associates with a specific team) will be on new teams by the season's end. For the Kings, I presume this means Ziggy is pretty much gone (sort of like Rob Blake and Luc in seasons past.) If they get rid of Alex Frolov, the Kings will have to answer to me. Leiweke kept repeating that hockey fans should expect numerous surprise moves.

It's already begun. There was an article about the Hurricanes on ESPN.com and how they're going nowhere this year and therefore are starting to plan for the future. Sure enough, today they traded Sami Kapanen and Ryan Bast to the Flyers for Pavel Brendl and Bruno St. Jacques.
