Full Version: Lightning Get Their Rings

With little (none) fanfare, members of the Tampa Bay Lightning received their Stanley Cup rings. The rings--each decorated with 138 diamonds [one for each of the team's 106 points during regulation and two diamonds for each of the 16 postseason victories]--were distributed in a conference room in the basement of the St. Petersburg Times Forum. The Lightning needed to get league permission for the 15 players able to show up and the team to have this minimal contact.

Would love to see a pic of them.

138 diamonds on each ring, Adam? Wow! I guess diamonds really are a gir...I mean a hockey player's best friend. smile.gif It's unfortunate that a proud moment like that had to be such a low-key event due to the lockout:

It was reported last week that the Lightning's rings were, ironically, designed and produced here in Calgary:

A picture of the ring made by Intergold:

I just hope none of the Lightning players are forced to auction off their rings on e-Bay in order to supplement their meagre $10,000 monthly 'lockout' income. biggrin.gif

One of the players(Timmy Taylor) was quoted as saying the ceremony should have been held in a packed Forum with the fans. Bummer!

On a side note, The Springfield Falcons play the Philadelphia Phantoms December 15th at the Forum. Tickets purchased today are 50% off!
