The Diney folk have finally unloaded the Mighty Ducks. Local physician/businessman/entrepreneur Henry Samueli and his wife Susan are the new owners. No word on whether they're going to change the team name to "The Los Angeles Mighty Ducks of Anaheim." wink

Isn't the "Mighty Ducks" name and logo considered Disney property because they came from the movie? At least the name, anyway; I'm not sure about the logo. Could there be a name change or new logo? And what would become of perhaps my favorite bit of dialogue from the generally mediocre "Space Jam"?

Adam, I loved the Los Angeles Mighty Ducks. I just about spit up my coke laughing this morning.

The article I read in today's paper said the new owner already has said he won't change the team's name to "The Los Angeles Mighty Ducks of Anaheim." Gee, that's too bad for L.A., huh? wink

Samueli won't change them to the "LAMDoA" but may change the name /logo of the team, "if that's what our fans want." As of now, however, there are no plans to do so. In one of the articles with Samueli, he stressed that the prime focus for now will be on marketing the Ducks, which I thought was the main focus the whole time they were owned by Disney! I would have thought the main focus would be getting the NHL back on the ice!!

According to my synagogue's monthly newsletter, Michael Samueli shall be Bar Mitzvah on April 2. According to the announcement, his family includes "grandparents Henry and Susan Samueli of Irvine."
I assume it goes without saying that I'm going to suck up to these people like nobody's business in hopes of getting some Ducks tickets...should the NHL actually return next fall.

Hmmmmm...that could mean more trips to darkened garages!

Oh, I'll still hang out in the darkened garages...those noxious fumes become an ambrosia after a while. And if the Samuelis are as smart as they seem to be, they'll avoid me like the plague! wink
