This man is amazing. He bailed the Canadiens out of YET ANOTHER game tonight vs the Lightning. He is pretty much carrying the whole team on his back to the playoffs (Canadiens are outshot in almost every game they're in, yet they're still holding down a .500 record and the final eighth playoff spot thanks to his goaltending). He should definitely win the Hart Trophy this year even ahead of Jarome Iginla. You have to feel sorry for the Canadiens, they have worse injury problems than any other team. Their captain Saku Koivu is recovering from cancer, and Donald Audette almost had his arm sliced off when a guy skated over it in a game (reading about that still makes me queesy). There are several other miscellaneous players who are injured also.

Sorry, but being a Caps fan, you can't really get me to sympathize with the injure for Les Habs. Look at it this way: We have lost two players to season ending injuries. Lost another for 3/4 of the season to injury, Jagr has been injured early on, Kolzig needed cortezone shots, etc.

I won't be crying a river for them, though certainly you never want to see someone get injured.

I think this season will be known as the injury season. I can't keep up with all the key injuries to key players with key teams right now. Its really unbelieveable!!

Awright! Habs talk!

King Gay, I've heard that Donald Audette is scheduled to play in this Saturday's game vs. the Pens in Montréal, putting his recovery right on schedule and hopefully giving the Habs a little more scoring punch in their race toward the finish line. And you're right about his injury; I still get the willies everytime I see the replay of him nearly getting his hand sliced right off!

And Saku Koivu may actually return to play before the end of this season (!) (a warm-up for the play-offs?), and in so doing would make him THE hockey story of the 2001/2002 season. He's been practicing full-contact with his teammates for about a week now, just a few short months after finishing his chemo treatments. Man, I would LOVE to be at the PhoneBooth when Our Captain steps out onto the ice for his first game back! Even without a ticket, I'll probably still be able to hear the huge, prolonged ovation from my apartment a few blocks away!

And while Saku's been the "spiritual" leader of the Habs from the pressbox this season, José Théodore has been THE MAN on the ice. I don't think his save percentage has dipped below .920 all season. Engrave his name in the Vézina right now, and nominate him for the Hart Trophy if the Habs make the play-offs.

On a side note about José: at another "gay/sports" site (which was discussed in a thread here - gaysports.com, I think is the link), their lead title banner includes a photo of José Théodore. Since the site is essentially a commercial site selling "gay" products and ad space, wouldn't they need to get José's "Okay" to use his image in such a context? Anybody know the cyber-legalities involved here? Jez wondrin'...

The Caps are now tied for the 8th slot, and lead in the first tiebreaker (number of wins)--but the Habs have played one fewer game.

Washington's remaining schedule: New York Islanders, Tampa Bay, Ottawa, at New York Islanders, Chicago, at Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey (5 of 7 at home...and if that last game is a must-have for the Caps to make it, maybe I'll head down there...)

Montreal's remaining schedule: Pittsburgh, at Pittsburgh, at Philadelphia, Columbus, at Ottawa, Ottawa, at New Jersey, Buffalo (4 of 8 at home)

Yes! Audette played tonight, they won too.

About Theodore's face being used: I don't know but stranger things have happened. Like that gum company who inexplicably used some famous female skiier's face in one of their TV commercials, and her head was digitally edited to make her bald (???), they got sued I believe.

Who cares what he plays like. With that dark hair, beautiful brown eyes and gorgeous looks, he's a winner in my books.
