Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Hockey
Joe in Philly
He's retiring after 27 years in the NHL and Russian leagues. There will be an exhibition game in Moscow to mark the occasion....and I'll get to see it:

QUOTE
Comcast has signed an exclusive deal to televise the game nationally on its many local sports and news channels. CN8 will carry the game in the Philadelphia region - Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. - and will produce the U.S. end of the broadcast, adding English graphics and announcers to the Russian TV feed.

Alexei Zhamnov, Vladimir Malakhov and Danny Markov will join a Team Russia squad that includes Ilya Kovalchuk, Pavel Bure, Pavel Datsyuk, Nikolai Khabibulin, and other NHL stars. Their opponent, Team World, will have a roster of Larionov's friends from the Detroit Red Wings and other teams, including Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chelios, Darren McCarty, Martin Brodeur and Scott Gomez. Scotty Bowman will coach Team World.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Detroit-based singer Kid Rock also are on the guest list.
Kid Rock? Ewwwwwwwwwww.

Yeah..the news conference for this was held yesterday here in Detroit...Comcast is footing the bill and hoping that Hockey Fans (wherever they are  )will be starved for the action and buy the package...Although it sounds like half of this town is going to be at the event...
Is this the FIRST hockey news we've seen since the lock-out began??...for this being "Hockeytown" the subject is noticeably missing from print or TV...BAD news for hockey if they're not even talking about it (OR missing it) in Hockeytown!!! eek!
