Full Version: Chuck Finley coming to STL?

Word on the air this afternoon has Mr. Finley coming to the Cards in exchange for a AA first-basemen and a PTBNL (player to be named later). Sounds like a potentially good deal for the Cards, although I think there is some hefty salary involved as well.

I have always had a thing for Chuck (despite the wacky marriage to the actress she-devil), and think he will look mighty fine in the Cardinal red and white. Hopefully, the change will do him good and he will contribute to a strong staff that is trying to get through injuries and tragedy.

Forgive me for straying momentarily off-topic but, I thought I would post a link to a photo (Caution: image contains G-rated contents of Finley nuclear family, including cuddly pet bunny rabbit. Viewer discretion is advised.)

CHUCK & Family

Since this is, after all, the BASEBALL Discussion Board, maybe I'd better throw in a pertinent pitching statistic concerning Chuck Finley's MLB performance... um, 3.85 career Earned Run Average. (I admit I had to look this up on CNNSI.com, whose page for Finley may be accessed here
FINLEY STATS (& great baseball-card head shot)

Now, remember kids, the moderator may bump us to another thread if we begin dissing the wife or gushing over his looks --tempting as that may be-- so we'd best behave...

I read that a scout for the San Francisco Giants was checking Finley out!

It would seem that Finley could only benefit from a change of scenery. But his best years are behind him. And I'm not sure the Cardinals are the right team for him. They are still dealing with the loss of Darryl Kile. And Finley is trying to deal with his own personal domestic issues. Doesn't sound like a good match. The Cards should try to find someone who comes with as little baggage as possible.

And yeah he is pretty smokin' hot!

The Cardinals got Finley. Looks like the SF Giants are now looking at Kenny Rodgers.
