Full Version: Forbes: Selig, owners are $300 million liars

20 of the 30 teams made a profit last year? And MLB made a $232 million profit? All lies, Beelzebud sez...
Bill W
Apologies for messing up the numbers; $232 M is Selig's claimed loss. Forbes says MLB made $75 million last year.

I love it. Bud Lite is upset that Forbes published its report after "being told it was not true." Clearly Selig is a man not accustomed to having folks just accept what he says at face value while they genuflect and back out of the room.

I'm just shocked ... shocked ... that Bill W would be quoting Forbes!

Actually, although I'm sure they aren't totally reliable either, the Forbes numbers make a whole lot more sense than any other numbers out there. The top tier franchises would not have astronomical valuations if every team were losing money and on the verge of financial collapse.

If Bill Clinton can be hounded for committing perjury about who stained Monica's blue dress, then I'd like to see Bud Selig prosecuted for the obviously phoney numbers who threw around Congress. Maxine Waters for special prosecutor!

I love it!! Where else can I get baseball banter that finds a way to reference Maxine Waters - you go CITT!

Doug Pappas of the invaluable Baseball Prospectus analyzes MLB's cooked books and pares down Forbes' analysis... The numbers get even better; Selig underestimates the total value of the 30 teams by $1.5 b-b-b-billion!
