One of the players the Flyers acquired in the Eric Lindros deal, Jan Hlavac, has already been dumped off...to the Vancover Canucks for Donald Brashear! Hlavac scored 28 goals in his rookie year but has struggled this season, while tough guy Brashear is best known for getting assaulted on-ice by Marty McSorley.

man so often teams give up on players way to early. I mean i liked the Rangers getting Lindros for Havlac but this guy can play and to just give him up so easily. That can screw up a gusy confidence.

The Rangers were willing to give up Hlavac because they needed Lindros, who -- whatever you say about his concussions and his parents -- has a world of talent.
To give up a guy with potential (by the way, the 28-goal season last year was actually Hlavac's second in the league, not his rooke season) AND a high 3rd round draft pick for Donald Brashear and a 6th rounder is just stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Just when you think Bobby Clarke's dunce cap can't get any higher, well, there he goes again.
What could Brashear possibly bring to the Flyers that they don't already have or could possibly need? If (and that's a big IF) the Flyers make the play-offs next spring, Brashear's type of game goes nowhere in the playoffs, where fighting and roughhousing are virtually eliminated. Philly has only added stupid penalties to their game, while the Canucks have added a young speed skater with good hands around the net. And it was Clarke that initiated this foolish trade!
btw, how long before Breashear winds up in a Philly courthouse for some rage-induced off-ice incident?

As a long time (since 1972) Canuck fan, thank you BobBY Clarke.
