I have a spare ticket for the Red Sox - Angels game at Fenway on Friday afternoon, since my regular-season seatmate won't be attending. The seats are in Grandstand 26 - Row 12, just inside third base, price $57.

I'd love to have another Outsporter join me... See Brendan Donnelly, David Eckstein, Darin Erstad, Jeff DaVanon, live and in person! Woof! And oh yeah, see the Sox on their way to the 2004 Championship!

C'mon Jim Allen -- go for it!! Jet Blue must fly to Beantown from L.A.! Or hop across the country on Southwest. Friday afternoon at Fenway ...

If I only had more of my annual leave...I depleted just about all of it for my recent Canadian adventure. As of now I have just 9 hours total, and I have a strong feeling I'll use some of it this week to leave early or come in late.

(edit to add) I'll tell you what -- if by the end of the day Thursday the ticket is still available then check with me -- if I still have 8 or more hours of leave, I'll see if I can be off on Friday and hop on a train.

(I'd call in sick but I did that last Friday. eek! )

Of course, for you out-of-towners, accommodations at my place would be included in your ticket price. (Not to be outdone by JiP, I'll even throw in a couple of subway tokens!)

DCBucky, you're like in a cartoon, the little devil on my shoulder, whispering "Do it! Do it!".

But alas--$600 flight + ticket to ballgame + buying Redsoxbreath dinner + ticket to Boston Symphony on Saturday night + Appletini's at the Symphony + lost $ due to work = no go. I'm out of debt for the first time in my adult life and much as I'd love to, I just can't. Damn, damn, damn!

Unfortunately, I had to notify rsb that I can't make it tomorrow. sad.gif So if anyone reading this is interested, send him a message if he still has the ticket.

Give your ticket to ESPN's Chris Berman. He's the biggest Red Sox honk I've ever heard behind a microphone.
Jim Allen
Actually, Berman was outed as a San Francisco Giants fan in the Los Angeles Times the other day. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He's most likely hoping for the pre-written storyline of Sox v. Yankees ALCS deja vu instead of scrambling to pretend he knows who any of the players on the Twins are.

[Bitter] Oh, who wants to see a Red Sox/Angels game anyway? [/bitter]

There, there...you think you have it bad? If this year's World Series features Frankotite vs. Scott Rolen, I may blow my brains out.

Good game...

Too bad you couldn't make it, Jim Allen! IPB Image

PS- With apologies to Pedro -- Brendan Donnelly is my daddy.

You wouldn't have wanted an unhappy Jim Allen there with you, would you? wink I hope you found a buyer for the ticket.

My regular season seatmate, Roy, ended up going after all. He was glad he did. smile.gif

Oh my gawd, Brendan Donnelly is sexy as all hell. He was subpar this year--getting your nose crushed by a ball in spring training that requires three surgeries will do that--but man, I wouldn't mind being in a manwich with him and Eckstein. First, I'd tell him "No, you can't bring your Skoal to bed".

RSB, I'm really glad that Roy made it after all. I was following the game on MLB.com and as soon as I saw the Ortiz HR, I went to my boss (a huge Dodgers fan, he has a signed and framed photo of Gibson's 1988 WS HR in his office) and said "Oh well, so much for a Freeway Series this year".

Looks like another Sox v. Yankees ALCS eh?

Oh, and the Red Sox are the ugliest team in baseball, so there. smile.gif

I totally disagree with anyone's assessment of Berman as a Red Sox fan of any caliber. He misrepresents The Nation as a mass of uncouth, angry, dissatisfied whores who are never happy unless they are unhappy, snobs who love to hate and who are quick to draw from pessimism but slow to see any silver lining. I am sick of mainstream media selling to mainstream viewer what cannot be quantified.

And by the way: Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek are in my bedroom. I must go now.

Berman is wrong. Red Sox fans are not angry. tongue.gif
