The Colorado Avalanche have traded for defenseman Chris McAllister, who, if memory serves, is about 6'7". I think they gave the Flyers future draft picks. Granted, the Avs have been a bit weak this season--surprising all the hockey pundits--but their defense has been pretty good this year. Where they have seemed questionable is in net, with Patrick Roy being less than his usual self during the season's first half.

The deal was for a 6th-round pick. Ooooooh. wink And the Flyers made another minor deal, getting Todd Warriner from Vancouver for future considerations. These big deals follow in the wake of the blockbuster acquisitions of Tomi Kallio, Joe Sacco, Jamie Wright and Eric Chouinard. Woo-hoo!!!!

Flyers get Sami Kapanen, Hurricanes get Pavel Brendl and a lighter payroll. Some other guys also involved.
