It's hard to believe so much time has gone by. Man, do I feel old. eek! Anyway, right now ESPN is showing a replay of ABC's telecast of the 1980 USA-USSR Olympic semifinal game from February 22, 1980.

Damn! I missed it!!!! I wonder if they will rerun it again??? Its impossibly hard to believe its been 25 years. I recall it so well. I was living downtown at the time in an area here called Browns Addition. Of course I was following the U.S. hockey teams progress daily, in the press and each and every game telvised. The gold medal victory over the Soviet Union still gives me goose bumps today, and more tears ran down my face that day, and then when they were on the podium and were awarded their gold medals, than one could possibly imagine. I will never be more proud of a bunch of hockey players from the U.S.A., and the image of our goalie Jim Craig, looking for his Dad in the crowd after the victory is seared in my brain. It was the memory of a lifetime for me.

Al Michaels' call of the game remains one of the best ever. And it's always fun to remind people that the US/USSR game wasn't the gold medal game.

Thanks for the information on the replay of the Gold Medal Game-- that's one that doesn't get aired too often. Fortunately, I get ESPN Classic; Puckman, make your way south & I'll provide the 35-inch screen and liquid refreshments.
