I have to admit I was shocked!!!! When I read this story in my morning sports section, when Roy announced he will not play for Canada in the Olympics. But it gave no reason why???

Seph, maybe you have some insight???
Who do you suppose gets the nod now, Brodeur??
Adam
From what I read in the morning paper, Roy doesn't think his hip has fully healed and Wayne Gretzky is quoted as saying: "He just felt he wanted time to take off to rest and relax and put the Colorado Avalanche at a front-running position, as far as his priorities go."
The way they're playing, he'll need to be well-rested--he's going to have to carry the Avs.

They said last night on NHL2Night that allegedly, Roy demanded to be named the starting Olympic goalie right now, and when he was turned down he decided not to play at all.

Hey JoeinP, don't believe everything you hear!

As I stated in the "3rd Shutout in a Row" post, Roy was the one who called Gretzky with his decision, and said he wanted to dedicate his effort toward an Avs play-off birth and wanted to give another goalie a chance to play in the Olympics.

He is and was always Canada's #1 'tender, and the news was a shock to the whole organization.
