Supposedly Chris Daughtry's album will be released November 21 of this year- he has been cowriting and recording his album during the tour and is working with some well-known musicians....

As a sidenote- for those who have been begging to find shirtless pics of Chris- do a google search for Chris Daughtry shirtless and it will pull up a few nice photos from a show he did with his old group at Elon University....

Very cool news! Since my favorite band is pushing their album back to next spring, Chris will give me a nice birthday present along with Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain coming out the next day. I bet Chris will put out a respectable album.

I just read that Jay-Z's album will be coming out on the 21st as well. Two giants of the music industry going head to head. laugh.gif Should be exciting.

I know which one I'm buying. I'd buy Jay-Z's too if only he'd learn to rap from his thighs.

I got some email today about album pre-orders and his was on there. Is he just "Daughtry" now?

I hadn't heard that but I like it. It gives me happy tingles. Maybe on his second album he'll be Daught and by the third just Duh. So sexy. laugh.gif

AH...just found this on Wiki...

On July 10, 2006 it was announced that Daughtry had signed with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records, and is currently working on an album to be released in November. It was also announced that, like season 4 rocker Constantine Maroulis, he will be forming his own band. His band will be formed under the name Daughtry.

Sorta like Jon Bon Jovi. smile.gif

OK, so I just went to Chris Daughtry's web site to get some info on his new CD... and I'm clicking on these various links and the next thing you know... I'm at perezhilton's site and looking at a pic of Tommy Lee and Lukas (of RockStar Supernova fame) in a lip-lock outside an LA club. Oh my.

Oh, and Chris and his band will be performing live on some radio show at 8:15 a.m. ET, Thursday, Oct. 26. For streaming audio, go here.

I was reading a story about former Idols and their CD sales. Ruben Studdard debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts this week, but only sold 71,000 copies. As USA Today reports, it's not a completely horrible number given the depressed state of the market, but it was significantly under expectations. By contrast, Clay Aiken debuted at #2 a few weeks back with sales of 211,000 his first week. USA Today projects Ruben to have difficulty even reaching 250,000 in total sales for the CD during its run. Ouch.

As for other former Idols, the most embarrassing result is from Ayla Brown, whose new CD sold a mind-numbing 300 copies in its first week. Hottie Mario Vazquez should've never quit the show... as his new CD sold just over 4,000 copies last week and has sold a total of 27,000. However, Mario did reach a milestone that only Kelly Clarkson among former Idols had reached. His song "Gallery" made the Top 10 in radio airplay. Kelly had reached the Top 10 in radio airplay with seven different songs, but she was the only former Idol to achieve that until Mario.

Some upcoming releases by former Idols:
- October 31 (Kellie Pickler)
- November 21 (Chris Daughtry)
- November 28 (Katharine McPhee)
- December 5 (Fantasia, Taylor Hicks)
- TBA 2007 (Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson)

Thanks for the link!
I have to say I'm a little disappointed. It's not bad by any stretch but it's hardly anything new. It all sounds three years ago. If he asked me to pick his first single, on first listen I'd probably choose "Over You"
I dunno, maybe it'll grow on me. smile.gif

In Ayla's defense, she was voted off right before the final 12, and wasn't included on the tour. So she only got like one or two weeks of "national" attention. She is a great local celeb, she's around a bit. I'm glad she was able to do a CD, she can sing very well.

He was live on Star 98.7 (LA radio station) yesterday and sounded pretty good. One of the songs he sang was used for the fall finale of Prison Break commercials over the last two weeks--pretty cool. I'll definately pick it up especially because it is priced well at around $9.99 at most stores.
