I can't figure out how to upload an avatar, either. It wouldn't take mine. It said it had the thing to resise a pic that's bigger than 90X90 to the proper size, but still wouldn't take it. Can I still upload it from a URL, or do I have to find a smaller pic?
We have a message in for Tech Support about the inability to upload an avatar image from disk. In the meantime, you may wish to use
ImageShack to host and resize your avatar image. Any image, oniine or uploaded, is limited to 50 Kb in size.

Just to let you all know, this new board DOES have spell check capabilities. It's just that each individual poster has to download it. Just click the little
ABC button above your post and follow the directions. It took less than a minute to download the plug-in.

I can't find an ABC button either, though I never use spell-check anyway so it doesn't matter to me. However, I did find the "change display name" option, and since the signature function is still in use, that means...

Still testing things out so don't have an opinion yet. Seems like there is such a wealth of options it's hard to know what to do or where to start.
One thing: on the old board the background for each post alternated between white and grey, which I thought set off the posts more. Now when you scroll down you just see a solid wall of blue-grey and nothing pops out visually. Perhaps if the separator line (or the background behind the screen name) was darker (or lighter), just to delineate the posts more distinctly...

Reply to this message.
When you get to the enter message screen, look on the top row of functions. You'll see an ABC with a little check mark underneath. It's right next to the scissors icon. Click on that and it takes you to the plug-in information.

Hmmm...
I wonder if it has something to do with the programs already installed on your computer. The ABC icon looks just like the MS-Word icon for spell check so I wonder if you need to have that program to have that function with the board. I have MS-Word installed at home and at work so I have no way to test it out.

I do have Word. When you go to My Controls, you can change board settings to allow for Rich Text formatting, which gives me the scissors, but no ABC.
But changing to Rich Text made typing this a real pain since the cursor crawled, so I am going to disable that on my profile.

I haven't changed any settings on here at all. The spell check has always been there.
I just sent you a screen cap. Hopefully that will help in my case that I'm not completely crazy.

I'm finding this to be a little more cumbersome as well. I usually have to backtrack a lot to return to the active topics.
Also, speaking of today's active topics, it used to be nice when we had a few lines of preview before actually delving into the topic. Is there anyway to get that feature back.

There's a little symbol of a planet with a chain link (link -- get it? HAHAHAHA!

) -- click on that, and a little box opens up for you to put in the url, then some text to describe the link or whatever. Just like on the old board.

Hey Everyone:
Someone posted this on another thread: Sorry, I tried to use the insert link function, but like many things on the board, it doesn't appear to be working yet. Hopefully the link above will work.
Use this thread to post on problems or any issues you see with the board. It doesn't help to say it in an unrelated thread.
You will see that we can now "pin" certain threads at the top of a forum, meaning they always stay at the top. This will be one of them. We can do the same for others when approrpriate.
Thanks!
PS: We will soon by posting a New Features list.

The insert link function on this board works the opposite way it did on Ultimate.
First you type the link heading in your message...say for instance "Jay Williams Signs with New Jersey Nets".
Then highlight it and click the link button which looks like the earth with a chain link fence. That will open up a box for you to cut and paste your link.
And then presto...

Something I've noticed about some of the options when you make a post, such as making text bold or underlined, etc. For example, putting something in
bold text -- sometimes you can click on the button and you get the set of bracketed commands, one to show where the quote begins and one where it ends (the bracket with the slash like this / ). Other times you only get the first bracket set and you have to click it again to get the second one. I'm not sure if it depends on if you type your text first and then highlight what you want in bold, or if you click on the B and then add your text. It seems to vary. I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone's having some issues with them.
This "strikethrough feature" is lots of fun

Why is the board doing automatic censoring of the word f**k (at least it did on the baseball boards).
We are all adults here, and some people (like myself) just curse a lot more than others (especially when I'm excited). But as adults, do we really need this board censored?

Speaking of adults, I'm still having to go through the "register" process to be able to make posts, every single time I log in. I don't actually register again but apparently have to confirm that I am over 13 and agree to the policies, then I sign in with my old username and password.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I have noticed the "flood control" or flood prevention or whatever its called seems somewhat aggressive of late. Like you have to wait 60 seconds after each post. Is that normal? I don't recall it being exactly that way before. I could be wrong though.

There are two ways to view the list of active topics from the board's
home page.
Just below the banner ads at top of page, clicking
View New Posts will display all topics updated since your last visit.
Near bottom of page in the "Board Statistics" box, clicking
Today's active topics will list all topics updated in the last 24 hours.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please
