Ok, don't laugh, but what is an avatar? Is it the pic beneath the board members name? Or is that refered to as a 'personal photo? I have a bunch of photos from my 'Kodak Easyshare' program, would like to use one of those but have absolutly no clue as to how transfer it.
If anyone has any easy intructions on how to do this or what these two things are, I would greatly appreciate the info. Just pretend your talking to a five year old on the intruction part.
thanks,
Baxion
Your
avatar is the small image that appears under your member name when you post a message to the discussion board. To upload an image from your PC as your avatar,
- Click "My Controls" near the top of any discussion board page
- On your Control Panel page, under Menu, scroll down to Personal Profile
- Click "Edit Avatar Settings"
- Under Your Image Avatars, click the "Browse..." button
- In the popup window that appears, navigate to the folder on your PC that contains the image - Note image requirements, above
- Click the image's filename - Its path will appear in the box labeled "Upload a new image from your computer"
- Click "Update Avatar"
- As confirmation, the image will now appear on your Control Panel page as Your Current Avatar
Your
personal photo is the image that appears on your member profile. To upload an image from your PC, follow the procedure above, but instead of clicking "Edit Avatar Settings", click "Change Personal Photo".

I want to update my Avatar but I seem to be having problems. Every time I try to, the old Avatar keeps popping back up. I even have the scale image feature on and it doesn't seem to be working. Why am I having difficulty? Please help. Thanks!

I've been having the same problem.
The feature has been tested, and appears to be working properly.
The newly-uploaded image may take a few seconds to appear. To make sure it has been changed, re-display a thread to which you have previously posted and view the avatar as it appears under your member name.
If the problem persists, please notify the administrators again.

I'm having the same issue, which I seem to recall having before. I've deleted the avatar completely and uploaded a new one and the old one is displayed. It seemed to resolve itself the last time, if I recall.
The culprit turns out to be the browser cache (a/k/a "temporary Internet files").
If you've uploaded a new avatar but still see the old one in the forums, clearing the cache should resolve it:
- Internet Explorer 6: Tools, Internet Options, Temporary Internet files / Delete Files
- Internet Explorer 7: Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History / Delete, Temporary Internet files / Delete Files
- Firefox 2: Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Cache / Clear Now
- Opera 9: Tools, Preferences, Advanced, History, Memory cache / Empty now

Okay, now I'm wondering if you are supposed to do all of that while you are still active on Outsports.I "was" logging out of "Outsports" before clearing out the cache. This time I did while I was still logged on and it seemed to work.Hmmmmm.

That sounds like it. I was logged on at the time I cleared my browser cache and then my new avatar appeared. Before that, I saw the old one while others saw the new one.
