Shirts & Skins: High School Water Polo Team Suspended for wearing Speedos

When the entire water polo team at San Pasqual High School in Escondido, California wore their uniforms at a school pep rally, they were suspended.

According to a San Diego Union-Tribune article, the boys' water polo team, and other athletes at the school's "Jersey Night" event were warned not to discard street clothes.

They did, and most of the team stripped down to Speedos. A few wore "CAUTION" tape around their waists. But when a team doesn't have jerseys, the rally became a case of what not to wear.

As I read this article, it struck me how heavy-handed this vice-principal came down on some boys having a little fun. No one was harmed, injured, maimed, or hurt by this, except for this small-minded man's ego. That took a beating and he took it out on the water polo players. Three words: PA, THE, & TIC!
