MSNBC article on Bill Clinton, who could potentially become vice-president without being elected.

For what it's worth, after reading the article, I am more of a literalist and would agree that Clinton could serve as vice-president and serve out the remainder of a term, should the president become unable to do so. However, he could not be elected to serve as president again.

I read the article, and from my limited knowledge of US politics, it makes sense.

I have nothing but admiration for President Clinton. Having heard him speak many times,
his ability to make you FEEL is amazing.

I only wonder how he got stuck with the C**T he's married to.

I remember Clinton once held a lengthy discussion about whether or not he could ever serve as VP and whether the Constitutional construct would allow it. (The context in which I saw it [or read the trasncript] was to highlight the differences between Clinton and a less intellectually-inclined certain president who shall remain nameless.) Anyhow, it was an interesting discussion.

The problem with Clinton as a VP if Hillary is the nominee is that the Constitution has a provision which states, to the effect, that if a Presidential nominee and his VP nominee are from the same state, they must forfeit the electoral votes from their home state. Electoral vote counts are so tight that no Democrat could win without carrying NY state's huge number of electoral votes. Now, if Clinton and Hillary were to separate and if he took up residency back in Arkansas, not only would winning be possible, but his estimation in the minds of millions would increase dematically. laugh.gif

No person who is constitutionally ineligible for the office of President may be eligible for the office of Vice-President. He cannot be either ever again.

Why ruin a good thing? Stay retired, Bill. You are doing a lot more good retired than running around the Beltway. Frankly, Bill Clinton is above politics at this point in his life.
