Governor Blago????? Whom is this?

Current Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, future indicted one.

So far Obama is hiding behind the increasing number of military men and Republicans who have had the courage to suggest that we need a new course in Iraq.

As much as I would prefer, and find it more ethical, for him to hide behind someone like John Murtha I doubt that he feels even he has the political placement to survive that sort of onslaught.

Still, someone of presidential stature will have to be willing to take the Murtha plunge at some point. Otherwise we may be faced with a worse situation than we currently have.

The only thing worst than being decidedly wrong - as the Bush regime is - is being undecidedly wrong.

To stumble along in Iraq for no other reason than because you think we are actually preventing it from becoming a terrorist haven is morally wrong and ultimately self-defeating, as the recent intelligence report made abundantly clear, even if it did stop short of calling for withdrawal (only because that is not the purpose of intelligence assessments IMO).

We can give the Iraqis resources and allow them to determine what to do with them. That is the "brother's keeper" concept in a nut shell. Will they blow it? Perhaps so. But there is a nobel prize for doing the same.
